I agree with the speaker insofar as scandals, to a great extent, focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. However, scandals are not always useful at any event(events). In my observation, scandals, disseminated through mass global media, have both positive and negative effects in today’s society.
On the one hand, the reason for my fundamental agreement with the speaker is that scandals expose some facts(用问题issue这个单词是不是好点。fact感觉是褒义。也是仅供参考) that cannot be seen in other ways, for(加个example。因为前句话是概括的说,后半句举例子) the speakers and reformers have to take responsibility for their public affairs. Scandals,(去掉",") propagates(这个词很好) through mass media with a rapid speed and can easily attract people’s attention. Some issues, about which are never thought before by general populace, occur authentically in actual and thereby are quite likely to result in wide meditation. Accordingly, public impose heavy pressure on the attention(focal?) objects, and then the melioration in the corresponded field must happen. One aptly illustration involves in the academic realms. One of the most influencing scandals at the field lies in the South Korean scientist, Woo Suk Hwang.(这个例子很具时效性,我也想到了) The fact that He fabricates his research in human stem cells(这样的语序会不会好点:fabricates human stem cells in his research) in order to win great honor from public, sparks(很形象的词) a hot debate about how to veraciously evaluate the truth of any accomplishments and how to prevent other scientists from repeating the same errors. In the sense that there exist serious fabrication problems in the academic realm, it will take a long time for scientists to regain people’s full trust. Therefore, in order to efface the suspicion of general populace to scientific achievements, the committee of academic has to respond with taking stricter rules and attaching greater importance to the correctness of any new discovery and accomplishment. Obviously, such behavior in turn erects a high standard for scientism, in the meanwhile propels the development of scientism. In such sense, scandals play a pivotal(这个词也很好) role in propelling progresses of our society.
Simply put(你也用上了赫赫), without scandals, the masses will only see the good aspect of anything and cannot have a holistic(good!) view of anything. Such as in political field, on the condition that the government merely delivers its absolute advantageous and justice to the citizens, all the citizens may only respect and esteem the authority without any doubt. Obviously, such phenomenon is deleterious to society’s development.
On the other hand, over attention on scandals means narrow foci in which people overemphasize the faults instead of treating their contribution fairly. Take the sex scandal of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky for example, while people concentrated too much on the president’s fault, his contribution accordingly pales in importance in people’s mind. Nevertheless, the contributions of Clinton are part-and-parcel of the progresses in America’s economy, military, and diplomacy. His meritorious deeds should never be obliterated. Moreover, while the media cost much money to search for the secrete affairs of public figures, they risk squandering resources which could have been applied to relieve the immediate suffering of our dispirited, disadvantaged, and disenfranchised members of society.(这段好像没什么可挑剔的,观点不错)
Therefore, as a member of society fraught with all kinds of scandals, we should be circumspect about blindly believing in the reports about these sandals and be careful to establish the facts relating to them before making any judgments. Only with an objective and exact attitudes towards scandals can our society proper all the time.
写的挺不错的。破题,分析,展开,用词都显示出很强的基本功。
只是一些小的瑕疵需要注意,比如漏掉一个单词这样的小错误。
谢谢你的修改!继续努力:)
