文中在没有经过benjamin07 同学允许的情况下用了其一个例子,望原谅!:)

Evolving with the development of media, various scandals filled with people's lives. Is it true that scandals make our attention focused on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could? It is hard to say yes or no, however, it is depends whether the scandal is related to people's profit or whether the scandal is a particular story which people have interests in.

First of all, demographic group is prone to pay attention on scandals in special areas such as politics, academia. For example, politician pay attention on Watergate scandal; scholar pay attention on the scandal of Hwang Woo Sub.  Hwang Woo Sub, a famous biologist in the field of medicine from South Korea, last year however, fabricated cell data asserting that he had found some available methods to copy the torso cell, overtly publishing papers-related in the magazine of Nature. Unfortunately, his fairy tale was punctured by his colleagues who were strongly against his dishonesty.  As this scandal spread, professor Hwang was severely punished by the Seoul University and then expelled from the institute and vehemently criticized by the public as well. The academic scandal absolutely attracts the attention of biologist especially in the research of Genetic Engineering. The scandal also disappointed the patient of Parkinson whom professor had premised that he would cure them. Nevertheless, most of people in the world have never heard of the scandal because the scandal has no influence on their lives.

In addition, only athletes and enthusiast in sports care about the sports scandals. Watergate scandal, the paradigmatic modern example, is neglected by most people at begin. But when it turned out to be a plot covered by president in service and caused the crisis of trust,  people focus their attention on the controversial subject that determine whether the government is credible. So only when the scandal is related to people's profit would attention be paid on the subject.

Admittedly, some scandals can focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could, the impact of the scandals is usually negative and the extension of influence is limited. In the history of humanity, only the event represents significant development of human's ability to conquer nature such as Apollo Moon mission could attract the entire world's attention. When American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon and said "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind " , everyone in the world  hold their breath and imagine the future of humanity.

In summary, that whether scandals can be useful to make us consider one controversial problem depends on the extension of scandals' influence and who is the privy to the scandal.
