TOPIC: ISSUE48 - "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."

When it comes to who commit more to the history, some people hold the opinions that it is some famous individuals who created the most significant events and trends in history while other people think groups of unknown people  contribute more. However, consider the fact that the famous history people promote the occurrences of the important incidents and groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten participate it that it call for a balance between historical celebrities and common people.

First, we cannot deny the crucial roles the personage plays in history.  For one  reason, the personage accelerates the speed of the development of the history. To support this view, we should look back into history. The first president of America-Washington who led the Independent War free the Americans from the government of England. It is true that in that time almost Americans are eager to get out of control of England and among the America army there are also many prominent generals, however, without the leadership of Washington, the American cannot get their victory in six years, maybe the war will last longer which will bring more painful memories to the Americans. For another,  nearly most scientific discoveries of great importance  are made by individuals. For example, the photoelectric effect was brought  to light by Einstein , one of the most famous physicists in the 20th. What's more he also raise the noted theory-relativity which is the cornerstone of modern physics. In such fields, the public cannot reach the same altitude of the former.

Though we have to admit the significance of the illustrious individuals, we should not forget the public-who is the really history maker. History need the attendance of the public, without whom the history can only be called someone's  individual memoir or their daydreams. Let us also think about the Independent War here. Though the existence of general Washington and other outstanding generals was described much in the history books, these army leaders also need their people’s support-no matter in materials or their participation to the army. The great of those generals does not depend on their unreachable skills in shooting but lies in their sharp eyed observation about the trends of the wars and being a excellent conductor. At the same time, the vital role of the public is not to perform as good as those talented in conduct but to combine with the latter to continue the history. Therefore, the people attending make the leaders to fulfill the final goal.

In addition, we should also visualize the adverse effect of overemphasizing the few elites. First of all, though propagate the importance of the prominent will inspire the youth to make their mind to grown to be them, overstate their significance will give the youth a misconception that only being a prominent the life is meaningful. It is a common sense that not all people can become the few elites, however, this fact will give a strong impact to those who hold a dream to become one in a thousand. Moreover, overstating may make the celebrities think that their dedication to the society is enough so that it may deprive their enthusiasm of creation.
Overall, the great individuals is the catalyst of the society while the public is the reactant. we should admire the importance of both individuals and common people to the history or we may risk undermine the fundament of the development of the history.
