The development of our society becomes faster and faster, and so, there are obviously more problems need to be dealt with than ever before. Whether understanding of past is required to solve problems which we encounter now and even future or not? I think every person has his own opinion on this issue. As far as I am concerned, of course, comprehension of the past is indispensable to a person, a corporation or a government, and I have several reasons to list.

To begin with, when it comes to a person, it is necessary for him or her to take advantage of some historical knowledge or a amount of knowledge which coming from experience to solve problems which he or she confronts, for example, in study, work and personal life. Students are good examples, they will be confronted with a large variety of problems in the process of study. However, if they have acquired some information about learning, such as methods of learning, choosing of classes and so on, from students who senior than them, it will be easier for them to follow teachers and assimilate knowledge. Another powerful example is workers, it is undeniable that they should experience a tough period to get accustomed to their working environment. Nevertheless, as we know, people who have working experience will tend to get familiar with new working circumstance quicker than who don't have any of them. Therefore, the knowledge and experience from past is so crucial to everyone.

As to corporations, apprehension of the past is significant to their development, too. It is conspicuous that there merely is a corporation which has not yearly scheme or annual schedule. At the same time, these schemes or schedule are based on the past of a corporation. For example, a software corporation can figure out its next year scheme only after considering and summarizing the achievement of last year or last few years. This process will facilitate the corporation to absorb useful experience from past and contribute greatly to the success of next year. So understanding the past is a strong tool for corporations to improve their accomplishments.

Finally, If we extend this notion to a government, we will see that comprehending of past, similarly, is crucial to its development and modernization. History is a mirror and has been repeating himself continuously. By researching the developmental history of its own country and other countries, a government will discover a lot of general law of the human society which can be utilized effectively to propel social progress. For instance, the pollutants which produced by industries and transport tools have been deteriorating our living environment. If our developing countries can concern over this condition as soon as possible through sensing developed countries' undergoing, it is believable that developing countries can trim pollution down to minimum. Then the water we drink will be cleaner, the air we breathe will become fresher and the environment we live will get more comfortable.

To sum up, through accumulating more knowledge and experience about past, we can handle a large variety of problems more efficient. In a word, this kind of knowledge is advantageous to people, corporations and governments. Therefore, I strongly support that understanding the past is necessary and it will help us grasp present and predict future.
