The speaker asserts that all nations should help to set up a global university in order to cultivate the abilities of students in solving the world's most persistent social problems. In my opinion, it needs to be concerned in fullscale, both advantages and disadvantages should be considered.

Developing a global university by nation may have many positive effects. Problems facing by many states are usually common in worldwide. It has many advantages from the aspect of both teaching and learning. For the teachers, first, research of multiple nations’ problem can make the education method variety, which can arouse the learner’s interest. Second, persisting problems need to be discussed as the professional theme. To assign specialized group to work out the relevant difficulties are necessary. Third, some problems are crucial enough to set up a major to do some deeply research such as terrorism. It worth to expend significant efforts to resolve because it turbots too many people and make extreme wicked influence. For students, study of different world situation can widen the vision of different culture, political, economics background. Acquaintance schoolmate from different country can also improve the students’ value system and world view which are the good condition of the host of future.      

The establishment of the global university can be less practical for some reasons. The first compelling one is the charge of education is difficult to be decided from which direction. Schools have run as a business mechanism for a longtime. All the persisting problems need massive money to resolve such as the depletion of atmospheric ozone, green-house effect, space exploration, etc. Perhaps holding a university is not difficult for rich country, but such special one needs much more founds than ever before. Even though the nation can afford the charge, if the sponsor is one nation, the university must tend to protect that nation’s profit. In the common problems the courses with subjective perspective of that nation is unavoidable. When the students’ value system is influenced by the country, the significance of the so-call “global” has been lost. Secondly, the responsibility of the global university is too serious. On one hand, if rely only on one nation’s application, the global university is too hard to be established entirely. Collaboration with other counties may cause responsibility dividing problems when the curriculum is challenged. On the other hand, when graduates come to the society, maybe domestic or on abroad, their fruits from college would be examined by public. Whether the knowledge acquired from the global university can suit for every area of different background from all countries should be difficult to assured by the school holder.     

Although it was appealed by many advocators for many years, the ideal global university has not come to us. Maybe the difficulties will be worked out in a long time. But the abilities of resolving the persistent social problems of the students all over the world need to hence up at the moment. Without the way of setting up global university, we can through many efficient methods to cultivate the students in such lack of abilities. For example, we can hold international conference in both in profession and in common problems, which is more flexible. Attitudes from many countries are only referred by conferee but forced to receive. Students from different background can communicate with each other and be enlightened by the impact of various inspirations.   

In sum, whether nations should establish it’s own global university is difficult to assert. To balance all the advantages and disadvantages, I find it is easier to resolve such problems in more efficient ways which based on the communication with other countries. Cooperation of countries is the best way to resist the threat of all human.
