Do you agree or disagree with the following statement. For someone who wants to be successful in the society, knowledge gained from study is more important than the ability of being creative2006 10 15 日)

同意:
1.       知识很多,我们吸收就行。
2.       创新有风险,不是所有创新都可以成功的。
3.       创新也是基于学好旧知识的基础上的 学美术的学生显得要学习过去的master的技术然后才能有自己的创新

In our modern society, with fierce competition, people are growing concerning with how to succeed. Controversy surrounds the question of whether knowledge gained from study is more important than the ability of being creative. I definitely agree with this statement.

To begin with, knowledge present in our society could well satisfy our demands to survive in the society, even succeed. With the increasing specialization and knowledge, there are various jobs as well as distinct knowledge to study. The useful knowledge is sifted out by time. In the ancient time, agriculture developed in order to yield productive crops. The technology passed from generation to generation and we have profoundly understood how to produce large amount of crops against the nature disaster. Thus if we learn well the existence of knowledge, we also could make success.

In addition, to be creative may pose the risk as well as bring about benefits. Although once people made a revolutionary change, they will benefit from this creative idea; the uncertainties may also pose the risk. The nuclear power plant is in the case. This discovery surely meets people's increasing demands of electricity. But the explosion of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant blanketed the surrounding area with radioactive fallout, putting the ecosystem in danger.Knowledge gained from study have been tested by previous people, but the new things result from creation should be estimated by ourselves. Such kind of things filled with history, there are always revolution movements, but the results are always permeated with blood, because the society and the general could not accept the new idea. This example indicated that the creative person not always bring about fortune.

Furthermore, knowledge gained from study is more fundamental than the ability of creativity. Picasso should learn from his teacher’s technique at first no matter how creative he is. It is common sense that different individuals present distinct qualities, such as agility, intelligence, endurance, mechanical skills, memory and creativity and so on. Not all people possess the quality of creativity, but all could gain the knowledge from study. Edison invented the light bulb, Marie Curie discovered the chemistry element radium, and Ford improved the assembly line of automobile. Certainly, they not only gained the recognition of the world, but also contributed to their wallets. But they also pay a lot of efforts to learn the previous knowledge. All of these demonstrate that the significance of the knowledge gained from study.

To sum up, since to be creative is based on the collection of knowledge, and the existence of the huge amount of knowledge could satisfy the general demand for ordinary people, knowledge is more important than the ability of creativity.
