很多社会并不重视思想家,即使社会宣称很景仰这些思想家。【ISSUE参考提纲】
A. Confucius is regarded as a great thinker in China, but today few people including scholars pay much attention to what he actually said.
B. John Dewey was one of the greatest thinkers in American history, but few Americans including scholars know much about him. C. In ancient Greece, the great thinker Socrates was sentenced to death.
Thinkers are great leaders to put people more in touch with their feelings, foibles and fate—in short, with our own humanity. Without ideologists, people would lose themselves in the universe. But most societies do not take their greatest thinkers seriously, even when they claim to admire them. Through close scrutiny, I agree with this to some extent. Thinkers’ works are always obscure and far from practicality as well as pragmatism. In this era of rapidly-changedtechnology, what people seek is the useful products and methods from which they can get profit. Obviously, great thinking is not in people’s line. For instance, comparing the thinker’s manuscript with a book introducing famous tycoon’s economy opinion, vast majority of the publishers will choose the latter which pander to people’s taste of making money. In the main, today’s entertainment moguls, movie directors and public celebrities are concerned with practicality and profit, but not with thinking. People like to explore their own viewpoint instead of simulating other’s opinions especially the great thinkers’. This is the time to advocate personal character, however, the identical thinking sounds tedious and meaningless. To show distinction with commonplace people, one is apt to hold his own thinking not blindly worship the thinkers’. Also, nowadays the aim of education is to cultivate students with free thinking. Stuffing with other’s opinion or thinking is an outdated as well as unreasonable way to teach student. Though these thinkers are not taken seriously even unfashionable, what they left is still the precious treasure forhuman development. Take the example of Karl Marx, the great thinker from Germany, his masterpiece makes huge effect on the shape of Soviet Russia and China. Even now, there still a mass of scholars study and explore his thinking as well as propagandize his spirit. Without his theory, the communism might come out decades later and there would be an outright difference about the world’s structure. Also, in China, Confucius’ some principles like “two heads are always better then one” help people build proper and positive attitudes as well as lead them to the brighter future. All in all, to some extent the , great thinkers’ theories penetrate through the value of the life of peopleand does a favor to the confused people. In the final analysis, it’s true that sometimes societies do not pay more attention to their greatest thinkers, even they claim to admire them. However, because of the fundamental faith of human beings in the true, the good and the beautiful, the great thinker still play a important role in people’s life and in society’s progress. |
