The author asserts that video camera play a more important role than written records in the form of documentation. However, in my point of view, these two forms of documentation have their own advantages which can not be replaced by the other; so either of them is indispensable.

In the first place, the video camera provides more accurate and vivid record than the written records. It is apt to illustrate that the video can record many natural phenomena such as volcanic eruption, tornado, hurricane and so forth. Thorough the video, people can know the immediate power and awesome nature.

One of another strong point is that the video can "replay” what have happened, which can be applied in many aspects. There are many video camera devised on the public places, such as railway station, banks and so on. When accidents happened, the police can know how the accidents happened with the help of video records, and decide who will take the responsibility for the accidents. The video also plays a vital role in the legal proceedings; since it can provide crucial evidences to prove the criminal guilty if the criminal was shot when he committed a crime such as theft or drug trafficker. In the field of sports, the video can keep the most exciting moment in a match. It is impossible for anyone no matter how skilled a sport journalist, to recount complete details such as winning throws in the last seconds of the NBA finals. I am sure that when these NBA fans see the video many years later, they must be as excited as that time, while any written records can not gain such effects.

In the second place, the written records are also superior to the video camera in many aspects. When it concerns to describe the mental activity of the people, the video is of little use, while this is one of most strong points of written records. Large amounts of masterpiece are famous for their description of hero’s' or heroin’s' psychology, when it was shot to movies ,many audiences complain that the movie is not as exciting as the original work ,since it fails to reflect the metal activity described in the original work.

The written records can record a significant event such as the World War II for quite long time in the view of whole, while the video can note a battle at most. It is impossible to note the whole process of war by video since it takes such a long period of time ,and it scope is too broad. There are many other advantages such as written records are convenient to carry with , and they are at quite low cost.

To sum up, both video camera and written records have their strong points in their own aspects. Both of them play a considerable part in the form of documentation. The author obviously overlooks the functions of video camera, at least to some extent. It is meaningless to argue that which one is more important.  What's more important for us to do is to combine these two tools advantage to record events according to our request.

你这一段对题目的理解和我不太一样 这是一个more  than题目好像还不能完全等同于replace 也就是说在讲了各自的优缺点之后 落脚点应在那个more important上 不是replace
仔细想想 这两者的差别还是较大的
