Issue83: 439 words—592 words
Government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even though these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people.
Publicly owned wilderness areas, where are extremely remote and accessible to only a few people, usually pass into silence. However, no matter how desolate it is, the government has the responsibility to preserve them in their natural state and develop it as the desire of the society.
Admittedly, plants, animals and other natural environments all have the ability to restore themselves, even though they are destroyed badly. For example, fire often happens in the open air, especially in the wilderness areas. But as for normal condition, fire can disappear automatic and only destroy the plants which have weaker vitality and the animals which are less active. So after its baptism, organisms, which are still alive, are certainly better species. And through this way, the natural make the evolution stages of the species coming true. In this case, perhaps it is not necessary for the government to intervene the natural's phenomena.
However, although wilderness areas have its own method to preserve themselves, for government, it is also responsible to keep all their varies in the safe rage. Even though generic fire has no harm, it is unavoidable that generic fire possibly evolves Forest fire sometimes due to the arid weather or strong wind, which harms the safety of men and property. To avoid such accidents occurring is unquestionable the government’s duty. Otherwise, many people might claim that these areas are not only wild, but also remote, where have little use for the country, so they consider protection as a waste of money and manpower. Yet, we cannot measure whether should we preserve or not only by the economic use of such areas for us. In other sides, wilderness areas perhaps have unrepresentative functions. For instance, the plants in the wilderness areas are useful for balancing the climate on the earth. They can fix carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, which has the ability to avoid greenhouse effect. As the temperature continuing increasing in the recent years, many areas including wilderness areas are of great use for keep the temperature within adaptive range.
In addition, publicly owned areas are also important potential resources for a country. Although perhaps they have no value now, if the government can utilize them correctly, it is very possible that the useless areas on surface can contribute to the society greatly. For instance, those undeveloped areas may have much valuable energy; such as solar energy in deserts, water energy in rivers, and various kinds of species, which is the most important contribution of the wilderness areas. With the help of wilderness areas, scientists have discovered many rare species in the modern world. Just as there are accessible to only a few people, such species can be saved completely, And it is also likely that we could find abundant natural resource there, such as petroleum, heavy metal and so on, which can bring an unexpected surprise. But on the contrary, if the government introduces buildings or roads there, such natural resources are able to be covered up forever, which will be not only a heavy loss for the resources, but also a heavy loss for the development of society. In that case, we should spare no efforts to preserve wilderness areas.
In summary, due to the analysis and reasons mentioned above, the government should try their best to preserve publicly owned wilderness areas, no matter how remote they are. At the same time, we should develop them on the basis of not destroying their natural state. What we are doing now can benefit the research, the world, and moreover the future.
