Skepticisms from students are sometimes not welcomed because they would possibly make the teacher embarrassed and even the class out of control. However, questioning brings advantages far weigh over disadvantages. Therefore, I believe skepticism of students should be encouraged.

Firstly, questioning would inspire students’ interest and active thinking, which could help them to learn better. Encouraging skepticism makes study more funny since people are always more excited when they are asked to provide their own ideas instead of just following instructions. According my experiences, question time is always an efficient way to heat the atmosphere in class. Meanwhile, through questioning students would dig deeper in the knowledge especially the intrinsic relationships, which help them master skills easier. This independent process should be an important addition to the class because it is impossible for teachers to mention everything. As one of my teachers said, you learned only if you could raise good questions.

Secondly, raising questions is a valuable way for students to obtain the courage of exploring undiscovered world and practice their capability of creativity. If students are educated to accept all the knowledge passively, they would probably lose their spirit of creativity gradually because they would feel comfortable to imitate other people’s previous examples and no need to take the hard work and danger of failure to create new ways. I believe educating students in this way is harmful not only to students but also to the whole society because it would probably produce a generation nothing more than copy machines. Moreover, the ability to create is like a knife, the more you use it, the sharper it becomes. Positive students would gain themselves many opportunities to practice making their own contributions no matter how naive their ideas are at the beginning while other students who never question the exiting way miss their chance of training. As we know, many great scientists preferred to find their own ways when they were students, especially Albert Ainstein, who was even considered a bad student because he would rather think in his way than follow the steps of his teachers. The custom of skepticism made them different from other students and led them to great contributions when they grew up.

Thirdly, skepticism is a useful tool for students to adjust to the fast developing world. Considering the speed of knowledge updating, information from textbook or even the teacher would probably not fit the new situation anymore. As a result, students should not satisfy with the knowledge they learn from the old generation but point out the mistakes and refresh them. Additionally, with the development of civilization especially after the widely use of Internet, we faced so many information everyday that we would easily lose our direction if we accept everything. I think keeping alert and questioning the information told by other people should be necessary to live in the modern world.

Although skepticism is very beneficial, we should keep it in a reasonable and appropriate way. To prevent from disturbing the plan of education, students should try to keep with the steps of teachers. For instance, they could think and question their confusing points after class while focus on the instruction of the teacher in the class and ensure the teaching process smooth.  

In conclusion, student should be encouraged to question what they are taught instead of accepting them without critical thinking. The process of questioning is helpful for students to master knowledge, and what is further, to improve their creativity and adjust the fast developing world. We should not forbid skepticism because of the limitary trouble it might bring but try to lead it in a reasonable way.
