Secondly, the percentage is based on the information last year, and the mere one year’s data is certainly insufficient to tell the truth anyway.

Admittedly, even if we concede that the percentage of the seniors who received job offers is correct and cogent, it does not follow that it is the business courses and job counselors that benefit the graduating seniors in seeking employment. It is entirely possible that other useful actions have been taken in Green Mountain College. For example, the college might have contacted with many companies, to provide job opportunities for those graduating seniors. Without sweeping out such possibilities, it is almost impossible to conclude that more business courses and more job counselors will help to increase the number of the seniors with job offers.

Moreover, the information, which the author cites to substantiate the suggestion, is from last year and perhaps there have been many changes this year in job opportunities and such other elements. If this is the case, an increasing number of seniors who receive job offers might not happen in Mira Vista College by simply providing more business courses and more job counselors. For example, graduates with business knowledge were welcomed last year, and lots of graduates got satisfied jobs. However, there are not much job vacancies for this kind of graduates this year and those who are good at specific technology such as counting or computing are welcome by many companies.

Finally, it is not practical and persuasive for the author to suggest that Mira Vista College should do what Green Mountain College has done last year. Besides, they should additionally provide more courses in computer technology. The author fails to convince us that Mira Vista College does well in business education, so it is actually very likely that Mira Vista College is excellent in other areas like arts or languages courses while deficient in business education. Next, there is no guarantee that computer technology will help the graduating seniors get employed. More substantial evidence is required here to make the suggestion convincing.

To sum up, the memorandum suffers from several vital fallacies as I mentioned above. To make the recommendation more credible and practical, the author should present more evidence about the percentage of the graduates who received job offers and more information with regard to the specific situation and condition in Mira Vista College. Before the real reasons that graduates in Mira Vista College are less hired than in Green Mountain College, no hasty actions and suggestions should be taken.
