135. A new study collected data that shows that people who snore are more likely to gain weight than are people who do not snore. It is well known that many people who snore also stop breathing frequently during the night for a few seconds, a condition called sleep apnea. The interruption of breathing wakes the person-often so briefly that the waking goes unnoticed-and can leave the person too tired during the day to exercise. Anyone who snores, therefore, should try to eat less than the average person and to exercise more.

In this argument, the arguer comes to the conclusion that all snores should eat less and exercise more than average person to keep fit. To justify, the arguer points out that a newly collected data shows it is easier for snorers to put on weight than no-snorers. The arguer also cites sleep apnea, which can leave person too tired during the day to exercise as an example. At first glance, the argument appears some plausible, but further reflection reveals it suffered from at least four logic 4 flaws.

In the first place, the arguer fails to mention how broad the collected data is. If the survey was limited to a special group, which consisted large portion of fat snorers and small portion of thin no-snorers, the result might present the particular conditions and the generalization would not be applicable to other conditions.

Even if the survey is credible, the argument is still questionable. In the second place, the arguer simply assumes that people who snore are more likely to gain on weight than are people who do not snore, however, he fails to provide sufficient evidence to substantiate the assumption. Perhaps most snarers have irregular eating habits that make sense in getting weight. If these people go on follow the unhealthy eating way, whether they sonar or not, they are sure to get fatter.

In the third place, the arguer mentions that many people who snore have sleep apnea and this kind of interruption off breathing wakes the person so briefly that the waking goes unnoticed, since it is so, it is difficult for snorers to recognize However, the arguer concludes that it is the sleeping apnea make people tired. Whether it is the interruption that makes them too tired to exercise during the day, to prove the effect of the interruption really exists on snorers, they arguer should make experiments using electroencephalograph to certify that there really exists this kind of pause and the snorers who have the interruptions feel too tired to exercise during the day. Without such an experiment, the arguer cannot give the conclusion that sleep apnea makes snorers tired during the day.

In the fourth place, if the sleep apnea really have effects on most of snorers, the arguer should not suggest all people exercise more than average person, maybe sleep apnea does not have influence on other snorers, and they are so energetic that they can do adequate exercises to keep fit. In addition, the arguer does not provide the amount of the diet and exercise of average person, so we cannot formulate the correct plans of diet and exercise for people who snore.

In conclusion, the argument actually has several flaws as discussed above, and is not convincing as it stands. To solid the argument, the arguer should give credible evidences to explain all the problems mentioned above.

  文中有好几处snorers, 我的意思是打呼噜的人,但是好像word提示没有这样的词,但是我又不知道用那个,请大家多指教。谢谢啦!!

In this argument, the arguer comes to the conclusion that all snores should eat less and exercise more than average person to keep fit. To justify, the arguer points out that a newly collected data shows it is easier for snorers to put on weight than no-snorers可能non-snorers会更好些,因为non可以用来做前缀,虽然这个词查不到,嘿嘿. The arguer also cites sleep apnea, which can leave person too tired during the day to exercise as an example.
