Recently, however, archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos, an ancient village across the Brim River from Palea. The Brim River is very deep and broad, and so the ancient Paleans could only have crossed it by boat, but there is no evidence that the Paleans had boats. And boats capable of carrying groups of people and cargo were not developed until thousands of years after the Palean people disappeared. Moreover, Paleans would have had no need to cross the river-the woods around Palea are full of nuts, berries, and small game. It follows that the so-called Palean baskets were not unique to Palea.

The conclusion that the discovery of such a "Palean" basket in Lithos can prove that the Palean baskets were not unique to Palea, is sounding and convincing at the first glance. However, there are flaws and foibles in the analysis

First, the arguer uses the fact that the Brim River is very deep and broad as the  reason to prove that the Paleans can not cross it. As common sense, the appearance of earth changed greatly during the history. It is true that the Brim River is very deep and broad, and there is no evidence that the Paleans had boat. However, there is no proof to show that the Brim River existed in the time of Paleans, so if the barricade--the Brim River was not there at that time, the Paleans could easily came into the Lithos. In that case, it is not strange at all that archaeologists can discover Palean basket there.

Second, the clue that there is no evidence to show that the Paleans had boats, is not a strong proof that the Paleans had never had boats. The fossil of the fractions of Paleans' boats might truly exist in somewhere, and the archaeologists just have not discovered them yet. So, although groups of Paleans might not be able to cross the Brim River, as the arguer asserts that, the boats capable of carrying groups of people and cargo were not developed until thousand of years after the Paleans disappeared, several individuals could cross the big river by the boats.

Third, the woods around Palea still can not be a good evidence to support the assumption that the Paleans had never been the Lithos, although, it are full of nuts, berries, and small game. Similar to the Brim River, the woods nowadays around the Palea may be just a desert, and it can not provide enough food for the Paleans, so they had to cross the river for survival. Moreover, the curious nature and adventurism of inherent human character, the conflicts between clans and families, and even terrible diseases are all reasons to drive Paleans to cross the Brim River and come to Lithos, despite the wood were full of nuts, berries and small games as it is today.

Forth, although the assumption that the Paleans had never been to the Lithos due to lack of skills to build boats and the Brim River had been already existed, there is still possibility that people in Lithos had been to Palea, and brought a Palean basket back.. Because Lithos people may be able to get across Brim River, by the boats built by them.

After pointing out so many obvious flaws in the argument, now we can say that the reasons used to support the conclusion can not be relied on. The arguer needs more detailed evidence to prove the Paleans indeed had never been to Lithos, and Lithos people had never been to Palea either. Unless this, the conclusion that the so-called Palean baskets were not unique to Palea., can be established.

Similar to the Brim River, the woods nowadays around the Palea may be just a desert(加个时间限制是不是更好一点，比方thousands of years ago), and it（这里指的是woods,应该用they,或者干脆用个从句，建议将and it 改为which）can not provide enough food for the Paleans, so they(指代不明，改为the Paleans又嫌重复，能不能改为for the Paleans to survive without……) had to cross the river for survival. Moreover, the curious nature and adventurism of inherent human character, the conflicts between clans and families, and even terrible diseases are all reasons to drive Paleans to cross the Brim River and come to Lithos, despite the wood were full of nuts, berries and small games as it is today(这一点发挥的很好).
