修改终结版~viva forever!!!
Issue51 "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student."
It may be tempting to state that through the fittest means of teaching and learning, education would be truly effective, since students can thus study with great enthusiasm and concentration. However, the author precludes other possibilities that could promote the process of instilling as well, and does not take the feasibility and practicality of this approach into consideration.
Admittedly, I appreciate the pleasant and reasonable intention conveyed by this statement. After all, every individual has different characteristics and inclinations, which can sometimes perform miracles in one’s access to the knowledge. Franklin, led by his great interests in discovering the unknown of the natural world, seizing the electrical fluid with his invention of lightning rod . Look into the realm of education, the professor always displays the same and unchangeable materials in class, leaving students to pick and digest the whole despite the their personal inclinations. On the contrary, if the manner of organizing a class can divert to the opposite angle, that is, the student-oriented class, the learners' various interests can be met as a result, and their enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity would undoubtedly be inspired, which can play as strong motivations toward the final goal. Thereby, given the class designed to fit the individual needs, the students would study with high concentration and a definite goal, and the initiative can enhance the efficiency of education.
此段让步讲述学生兴趣为中心的课堂之高效
现在看来我本人并不认为弗兰柯林那个例子与教育有何关联,仅能说明兴趣的巨大作用
While the proposal in the statement has its value to a large extent, the author does not take the feasibility and practicality of the student-centered class into consideration. Perhaps the students' interests are so diverse that the current subjects available cannot cover their various interests. Under such circumstances, the students who fail to find their interested classes on the schedule would feel depressed, thus inhibiting their motivation of learning. Meanwhile, to put the proposal into practise, the potential economic budget of the specified designation also set an obstacle. The core concept of efficiency, from the standpoint of the holistic society, involves two parts, the benefit and the cost.(在这里对效率又做了另一层定义) For the educators, they have to classify the requirements offered by the students, analyze thoroughly individual existing knowledge structure as well as every learner’s learning habit, hire new teachers, increase the salaries of the faculty inevitably and install the equipment required by a particular subject. Common sense and life experience indicate that, in essence, designation of totally student-centered class is obviously beyond the current education institution’s ability.
阐述这种教学方式的不可行性
Furthermore, the statement, as the author believes, carries the implication that we cannot resort to other measures to improve the efficiency than aiming at individual needs and interests. Unfortunately, the case might not be true. In view of improving the efficiency of teaching, we could employ some specific facilities, such as CAI(Computer Assistant Instructor), as well. Through the use of it, the student can be involved in the learning process by the vivid image and sound rather than passively absorbing drab theories imparted by the professor, and the learners can gain the feedback once they finish the tests, ask the questions in point without worry about being despised. Moreover, the cost of CAI is much less expensive than that of proposal stated, and the process of practice can be much less complex.
In conclusion, beneficial as it might be, the statement may be excessively utopian and overlook other alternatives, which may dwarf the suggested approach. After an insightful analysis, it seems possible that the educators can divert the given mold of class to student-centered class gradually, while keep the transformation within their abilities and assisted with some more practical alternatives. |
