------题目------
Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
------正文------
The statement asserts that education will be truly effective when it is specially designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. Admittedly, individual acquirements of each student should be respected, and interests encourage students to work hard. However, if education is specially formed to satisfy each student, it cannot actually achieve its expected effect, either individually or socially.

First of all, education specially designed to satisfy each student cannot reach its individually expected effect. According to UNESCO, the targets of education for individuals are learning to know, learning to do, learning to get together, and learning to be. If students are permitted to study only what they are interested in, can they obtain comprehensive knowledge, technology, and skills? If students are always satisfied, can they learn competition and cooperation? If students are educated only according to their own needs and interests, can they develop perfect personalities and know how to contribute to society? Probably the answers are no. As a result, such education cannot become truly effective, for it let students be restricted by themselves rather than provide them with comprehensive development.

Besides, if education is specially designed to satisfy each student, its socially expected effect is unavailable. The social purpose of education is to improve every aspect of society, including academy, technology, economy, political system, and people's spiritual status. To approach this goal, society needs people to operate each field. If education is designed to meet individual needs, can it contemporarily satisfy the whole society? Unfortunately, individual needs and social needs are sometimes unavoidably conflicting. Take academic area for example. Usually students would like to choose majors which will bring excellent jobs and high social positions, whereas subjects which demand great assiduity but cannot lead to perfect profits are not welcomed. Nevertheless, society requires all kinds of students, otherwise it cannot develop smoothly and evenly. If astronomy is ignored, who can send satellites into outer space? If agriculture science is deserted, who can feed the vast population on this planet? If environment is discarded, who can protect future generations? Similarly, in other domains, no matter technological, economic, political, or spiritual, not a single character can be disregarded. Therefore, to satisfy social needs, education sometimes has to sacrifice individual needs.

In conclusion, education cannot become truly effective either individually or socially when it is specially designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. Such education prevents students to develop comprehensively, and cannot actually satisfy the whole society.

Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
------分析------
Key words:
Effective: Having an intended or expected effect
Questions:
1.What is the intended or expected effect of education?
2.Can this kind of education become effective?
3.Is only this kind of education effective?
Answer:
No, this kind of education cannot become effective, either individually or socially.
------题纲------
Thesis: When education is especially designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, it cannot become effective, either individually or socially.

1.Individually effective education:
According to UNESCO, 1996, the targets of education for a person are learning to know, learning to do, learning to get together, and learning to be.
If education is especially designed to meet the needs and interests of each student, can they learn comprehensive knowledge, technology, and skills? Can they learn competition and cooperation? Can they learn how to establish perfect personalities or contribute to society?
2.Socially effective education:
The purpose of education for society is to develop academy, technology, economy, political system, and people’s spiritual status.
If education is especially designed to meet the needs and interests of each student, can it contemporarily meet the needs of the whole society? In others words, can society acquire enough people to develop its every aspect, no matter academically, technologically, economically, politically, or spiritually?
If astronomy is ignored, who can send satellites into outer space? If agriculture science is deserted, who can feed human beings on the earth? If environment is discarded, who can protect future generations?

Conclusion: Such education cannot become effective, either individually or socially. (Do not need to answer question 3.)

优点:楼主的文章写的很流畅,观点明确清晰,尤其是排比句式的运用,很出彩^_^
缺点:感觉观点有点儿老,建议第二个论点换一个论据。(个人经验认为sacrifice individual need and interests, the individual should obey the society不太被西方人认同,尽管我们觉得很正确)

The following appeared in a business magazine.
'As a result of numerous consumer complaints of dizziness and nausea, Promofoods requested that eight million cans of tuna be returned for testing last year. Promofoods concluded that the cans did not, after all, contain chemicals that posed a health risk. This conclusion is based on the fact that the chemists from Promofoods tested samples of the recalled cans and found that, of the eight chemicals most commonly blamed for causing symptoms of dizziness and nausea, five were not found in any of the tested cans. The chemists did find that the three remaining suspected chemicals are naturally found in all other kinds of canned foods.'
------分析------
Five of eight chemicals most commonly blamed were not found + the other three are naturally found in all other kinds of canned foods = the cans did not contain chemicals that posed a health risk.
------题纲------
1.The amount of the remaining three chemicals
2.Other less commonly blamed chemicals

Facts are stubborn things. They cannot be altered by our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions.
------分析-----
Key words:
Fact: Information presented as objectively real
  Stubborn: Characterized by perseverance; persistent.
Alter; To change or make different; modify
------题目------
Thesis: Facts are sorts of information presented as objectively real, including physical phenomena and historical events, which cannot be altered by people’s wishes, inclinations, or the dictates of passions.

1.Physical phenomena cannot be changed according to people’s wishes. People can study, understand, and response to physical phenomena, but are not able to modify or control them. Because of the existence of planet gravitation, though people can throw apples to the sky, they cannot prevent them from falling back to the ground. As the Earth rotates, though people can use candles and lamps, they cannot avoid the arrival of night. Following the steps of growth and decrepitude, though people can defeat severe disasters and diseases, they cannot escape eventual death.
2.Historical events cannot be altered by people’s wishes and inclinations. People can discover, discuss, and even distort historical events, but are not able to create different processes. Dead people cannot live again. Lost chance cannot appear again. Past time cannot be experienced again.

Conclusion: Facts cannot be altered by people.

Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
------正文------
The statement asserts that education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student. Admittedly, individual needs should be respected, and interests often encourage students to work hard and improve quickly. However, if education is specially formed to satisfy each student, it cannot become truly effective, that is, it cannot achieve its intended or expected effect, either individually or socially.

First of all, education which is designed to meet the individual needs and interests cannot become individually effective. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in 1996, the targets of individual education are learning to know, learning to do, learning to get together, and learning to be. If students only study what they are interested in, can they obtain comprehensive knowledge, technology, and skills? If students are always satisfied, can they learn competition and cooperation? If students only concern about themselves, can they build up excellent personalities and contribute to society? Probably the answers are no. Students have to absorb various knowledge and experience, even if they are not enthusiastic in. They have to sometimes struggle for their needs and interests, as all of them will graduate some day, and the following society will not satisfy them any more. They have to develop themselves comprehensively rather than be limited by their individual needs and interests, otherwise they cannot survive in the severe society. Therefore, the education mentioned in the statement cannot reach the individually expected effect.

Besides, when education is designed to satisfy each student, its socially intended effect is not likely to be available. Socially, the purpose of education is to improve every aspect of human civilization, including academy, technology, economy, political system, as well as people's spiritual status. To achieve this goal, society must at least have enough people to conduct each field. Can education which meets the individual needs and interests contemporarily provides the whole society with what is required? Unfortunately, individual needs and social needs are sometimes unavoidably conflicting. Take academic area for example. Students are often interested in majors with consequently perfect jobs and high social positions, whereas subjects which demand great assiduity but produce less income are not welcomed. Nevertheless, society needs all kinds of students. If astronomy is ignored, who can send satellites into the outer space? If agriculture science is deserted, who can feed the vast population on this planet? If environment is discarded, who can protect future generation? Similarly, in other domains, no matter technological, economic, political, or spiritual, not a single field can be disregarded. In order to make the entire society promote smoothly and efficiently, sometimes individual needs have to be sacrificed to meet social needs. As a result, the education mentioned in the statement cannot become socially effective at all.

In conclusion, education cannot become truly effective when it is specifically designed to satisfy each student, as neither its expected individual targets nor its intended social goal can be achieved.

Although black bears are common in the eastern Canadian province of Labrador, grizzly bears—often similar in color, but much larger—were believed to exist only in the western provinces. Despite a nineteenth-century explorer's account of having startled and narrowly escaped from a grizzly bear deep in the woods in Labrador, modern scientists find no physical evidence that grizzly bears have ever lived in Labrador. But recent research into the language and legends of the Innu, a people who have lived in Labrador for thousands of years, reveals that their language has words for two different kinds of bears, and their ancient legends attribute different characteristics to the two kinds of bears. Therefore, there probably were grizzly bears in Labrador, and the explorer's account probably accurately identified the bear.
------分析------
The explorer’s accounts + language of the Innu + ancient legends = there were grizzly bears in Labrador
------题纲------
1.        The explorer who had startled and narrowly escaped from a bear was not likely to provide accurate information
2.        Language of the Innu contains imported words and ancient legends could be brought through transporting activities

The nation of Claria covers a vast physical area. But despite wide geographic differences, many citizens are experiencing rising costs of electricity. A recent study of household electric costs in Claria found that families who cooled their houses with fans alone spent more on electricity than did families using air conditioners alone for cooling. However, those households that reported using both fans and air conditioners spent less on electricity than those households that used either fans or air conditioners alone. Thus, the citizens of Claria should follow the study's recommendation and use both air conditioners and fans in order to save money on electricity.
------分析------
People use both fans and air conditioners spend less than others = using both air conditioners and fans can save money on electricity
------题纲------
1.How much time do they use fans or air conditioners? The vast physical area of Claria.
2.Electricity prices of each area?
