The speaker asserts that the art,not the critic,give something of lasting value to society.As far as I concerned,I strongly agree with the assertion that the art provide permanent value to our society rather than the art critic ,even the critic can guide us understand and comprehend art.

  In the first place, like language and organization, art is essential to man.Its value lies in its ability to free the mind from the fast pace of a society. Let us simply look at the most valueable  art in the world to see that it provide something eternal value to society. Da Vinci’s“Mona Lisa” and “Last Supper” were panited about 500 years old which still considered as some of the best examples of “true art” in the world and are visited by hundreds of thousands of people every year. Michelangelo’s sculpture “David”,as well as his incredible paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine chapel at the Vatican,were also produced 500 years ago,but still revered as some of the absolute pinnacles of artistic achievement .Although some of the art works were produced handreds of years ago, they can still capture the spirit and imagination of millions of peole which left something of great and lasting value to us.

  Of coure,，we cannot deny that we also benefit a lot from the art critic.First of all,the art critic could help us understand and appreciate the art. If a critic is very familiar with one variety of art,definitely his or her comments about that are insightful and helpful.In addition,a constructive critic can help artist promote their working level and provide some views to some extent help the artists retrospect themselves deeply to bring up creative sparks.Moreover,a critic can give us some ideas about art which is worthwhile for us to pay attention to.For example, according to the critic we can distinguish some novels which is not worth reading to save our time.

  Although the critic of art p is just helpful and useful which could never provides something of lasting value to society. Generally most of the critic are subjective to reflect the ideas of the critic,but some of the critic are objective which in role of judgement failed us repeatedly.For instance, Voltaire’s rejection of Shakespeare because he did not conform to neo-classical principle of unitity And critic of art is often guided by the ego,its value is questionable in any event.

  In sum,in some extent the critic of art could help us understand and appreciate art ,but it absolutely couldn’t provide something of last value to society.Only the art provide something unique and invaluable to society.
