Issue-4: "No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study."
I totally/strongly agree with the author's opinion that no field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study. In the modern times, all the fields are related more and more tightly as the time flies, no field, especially those scientific fields, can survive prosperously without any other fields' help, no field can advance rapidly when it is isolated with any other fields, and no field can make obvious progress while lacking of knowledge and experience from some other field. In order to verify the conclusion, we can take several examples as follows:
The first example is on the significant influence of computer technology in the scientific field. We all know that after the inventions of computers in 1940s, a large number of great changes have taken place in all of the scientific fields, especially the physics field. Physics is to deal with all kinds of mysteries of the nature. We can uncover many mysteries by using the physical laws and getting the solutions of math’s equations in most conditions. But in some other conditions, we can’t do that at all. Even if we can write down the equations correctly, we have no idea while trying to get the solutions of these equations, which sometimes are called super-equations. And it is very difficult to get the super-equations’ solutions, sometimes it will take several years to get just one solution, and maybe the one is wrong because of the men’s mistake. So, before the inventions of computers, the physicists had to retreat while encountering these equations. But after the merge of computers, the physicists can deal with these equations successfully by using computers to get the solutions of them. And computers can correctly get the results without any mistake in most of the conditions. So, the inventions of computers have been promoting the physics to advance significantly. Since the computer era came, the backbones of the physics have increased to three, comparing to the original two-----theory and experiment. Besides the physics field, the computer technology has also changed our way of thinking the problems absolutely and greatly in all of the other scientific fields.
The example of biochemistry’s born can prove the issue too. When the biology confronted with some unsolvable problems, many biologists sought the solutions from other scientific fields, such as the chemistry. And in this condition, the biochemistry was invented. Biochemistry deals with many problems between the biology and chemistry, and all the biochemists can utilize researching methods to solve problems both from the biology and the chemistry. Biochemistry’s turns up has not only made the biology accelerate to get progress but also stimulate the chemistry to develop rapidly. And it also set a good example for some other fields, including the physics, which has later given out a new field named biophysics with the biology.
The last example is about the mathematics. From the ancient times, mathematics has always been considered the base/mother of the science. And Karl Marx once said that one subject can be thought advanced only when it can apply the mathematics successfully. As for the importance of the mathematics, all the scientific fields should make use of it extensively if the subject wants to make remarkable/noticeable progress. With the help of mathematics, physics could make great progress at the beginning of the 20th century. That is why Albert Einstein’s theory was difficult to understand at that time. After the mathematician invented the nonlinear theory and the chaos theory in 1950s, the physicists and some other scientists could deal with many nonlinear phenomenons of their own fields successfully. In the modern times, the mathematics theory has been used more and more widely in almost all the subjects even in the arts field, such as the sociology and the politics. Many sociologists and politicians now utilize the statistics method to research those problems, which leads to great progress in their fields. So, the mathematics has really contributed a lot to the whole world.
In sum, the interactions between different subjects are really of great importance. After encountering difficulties, many subjects begin to make noticeable progress only when outsiders have brought in their methods and their experience. No subject can develop very well only by its own efforts. If one subject wants to survive wonderfully, it must absorb all kinds of methods and ways of thinking problems from other fields as much as possible. Only in this way, can the subject make remarkable progress.
