C. We should be alert to the possibility that individuals, organizations or governments tend to plead a worthy goal in excuse of their contemptible means and private interests.

正文
There has been a hot controversy over the concord between goals and means for along time. Some people argue that they should not lead by goal-oriented, while others asserts that as long as the goal is worthy, any means taken to achieve it is justifiable. As far as I am concerned, I suppose that, although the ideal way is to attain the noblest goal through the noblest means, in reality we usually have to resort to low means in order to reach high goals.

Theoretically, the means taken should be consistent with the ends in view. As Goethe pointed out that the important thing in life is to have a great goal, and the determination to attain it. We should have an aim in our lives, otherwise our energies will all be wasted. Also, we should remember that winning is not really everything. It is important to stand for right things. If you stand for unprincipled thing, what do you win? However, we often been misleading by the media that the heroes are always decent and modest, while villains are always indecent and arrogant. Therefore the social shaped a simple theory that high goals, which are sought for only by heroes, are always attained through noble ways; low goals, which are sought for only by miscreant, are always attained through low ways. This theory seems at the first glance to be sound, but a retrospect of the history reveals that this is not always the case.

When trace the history,we can not failed to discovered that in order to restore peace and social order, individual states or the international community has repeatedly used force in history. On August 6, 1945, during World War II (1939-1945), the first atomic bomb to be used against an enemy position was dropped on the city by the United States Army Air Forces (see Nuclear Weapons). According to U.S. estimates 60,000 to 70,000 people were killed or missing as a result of the bomb and many more were made homeless. There is no better example of the Nuclear Weapons exploded in Japan. In the last months of World War II (1939-1945), in order to make Japan accepted the Allied terms of surrender, on August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, and three days later a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki. The bombs were used without explicit warning and targeted in a manner designed to create shock by destroying as many workers’ homes as possible. It is conceivable, given all the facts we now have in our possession, that some strictly military use and targeting of the bomb, as Marshall urged, can be defended. But there can be no legitimate military or moral defense of the decision to use the atomic bomb mainly against the women, children, and elderly civilians who were left behind in Hiroshima and Nagasaki when most of the young men had gone to war. Wars cannot be won by destroying women and children and goals cannot be achieve by using low means.

There are still several other aspects relevant to the issue under discussion which, unfortunately, I have no time to explore in detail here, but the above-discussed reasons should in a large sense justify my conclusion that no goal is worthy of being take any means to attain at any time, rather, we should behave appropriate to the situation at hand.
