The arguer claims that tradition and modernization are incompatible. In my opinion, this assertion is over-simplistic. We cannot avoid traditional activities in our life, for example, celebrating festivals such as Christmas and the National Day. On the other side, we are immersed in the convenience of new technology by using a microwave oven to prepare our meals. In short, our life is involved in complexity combined with tradition and modernization.

On one hand, tradition gains it popularity through the development of history. It is the priority that it bring us something of great value to human race that traditional things are preserve from being abandoned and handed down from one generation to another. We learn from the Chinese traditions to be economic and work hard, which is still, in modern times, be recognized as the most crucial characters that will lead to one's success.

But it is true that since the development of the society, some values have changed and some of the traditions no longer suit the pace of modernization and even hamper improvement. The Chinese traditional method of teaching children is a good example. In the past, parents thought that they have the right to treat their children whatever they like because they think children are their own possessions. When a child made a mistake, it is unavoidable a blame or even a heavy beat by parent. But through modern education, more and more parents have realized that they should treat their children as an equal. They should talk to each other when problems come up. Therefore, for traditional things, we should take our own judgment that whether a tradition should be advocated or abandoned.

On the other hand, modernization highly concentrated with sophisticated science and new technology benefits everyone in his time in convenience in life. But the problem is that since the world develop so fast, we seemly have loss our judgment in some a complex world. Many new things emerge out and we have no time to think twice but hastily follow other people's act to some kinds of fashion. What we should aware of is the fashion itself. Fashion is new, and it provokes people's curiosity, but it needs time for us to consider carefully whether they are good. Sometimes, fashion is harmful. In the early 1960s, when America was in a special period, many young people think smoking was cool and follow other people's example. But they do not know what smoking means to them. It is just smoking at the beginning that led them to the abusive of drugs some years later. Anyone familiar with American history will sigh at these scenes because so many hopes were destroyed.

From what is discussed above, we should keep our mind clear about modernization. Not everything modern world bring us should be accepted. Think about that if time goes to one hundred years later, will these things considered modern now be still useful? Modern things now will become old and something of great value will become tradition. Even though we live in a world in complexity, we should always keep up in mind to judge things whether they will be helpful, no matter they are traditional or modern.

From what is aforementioned, we should not simply put tradition and modernization in two conflicting sides. Instead, they should be combine together if we are to find a solution to guide our life by pick things of value for us. And sometimes, we should look back into history as a mirror to nowadays as guidance for modernization.

我的思路是, 从他们个自好的方面来下手写,而不是反面,然后突出他们为了我们更好的发展和生活,而紧密的不可分开
