36 "The greatness of individuals can be decided only by those who live after them, not by their contemporaries."
平衡观点
1.        许多伟大在当时就被人发现
2.        很多伟大却被埋没
3.        被埋没的伟大的理由有三
Is the greatness of individuals judged by later generations, and ignored by their contemporaries? I would say due to the influences of these splendid figures are various, some of their achievements can be recognized immediately; however, the other can only be completely evaluated by the later generations.

In the history, many great individuals enjoy a glorified life replete of public’s applauses and compliments. Mother Terisa devoted her entire life to help the people who are homeless, helpless and aimless, loved by people all over the world; Martin Luther King fought for the equality for the black people of America through his life, respected by suppressed blacks and sensible whites; Mark Twin wrote interesting but profound books, regarded as the best author by his large readers worldwide. These giants received their praises from their contemporaries because their achievements harvest huge effect soon, and correspond to the value and esthetic standards of the contemporary society.

Admittedly, there is plethora of greatnesses defied even abhorred by people living in the same period, but highly praised by modern society. Van Gogh had only sold out one of his paintings during his miserable life time, deserted by a prostitute, and committed suicide with a gun at last. However, he is regarded as one of the greatest painters in the history, his paintings are sold at a prohibitedly high price in the auction, and thousands ordinary painters desire his unbeatable talent. Ying Zheng, the very first empire of the whole ancient China, abominated by his people as an atrocious beast. Whereas he had killed many innocent people for no good reason, later historians think highly of him for he first unified ancient divisive China, established a centralized autocracy, and promoted a national standard for money and measurements. By the way, he had presided the construction of the Great Wall, which became the significant symbol of China and a famous tourism spot.

Why so many eminent persons never gained any admiration they deserved? I think there are three blockages for their magnificent achievement be recognized by those who live in the same era. In the first place, some greatness is beyond the cognitive and esthetic degree of the contemporary public. Since preeminent people always tend to be so insightful and provident that they surpass their contemporaries by decades even centuries in their specialized realm, their achievements can only be left and wait for others to catch up. In the second place, the contemporaries tend to be restrained by the temporal circumstance and can’t image the influence the greatness would have in the distant future. Human are always prone to believe the exterior phenomena and concern their own interests. Rome pope decided to bourn Copernicus to death and to inhibit his theory for the Catholicism’s own sake. In the third place, contemporaries do not have enough time to testify the validity of the accomplishments. It’s true that a theory proved to be a truth or a fallacy after a long time since its birth, because a theory is usually be deduced and established on the basis of contemporary data and phenomena and can only be substantiated or overthrow by later research. People in ancient Greek believed that the heavier a matter is, the faster it falls, claimed by Aristotle, until Galileo carried out the famous experiment on the Pisa tower.

In conclusion, the speaker over simplifies the recognition of greatness. In my view, sometimes contemporaries are able to decide the greatness of the preeminent individuals, at least partly. However, those achievements beyond our limitation can only be left to the offspring as surprise gifts.

Is the greatness of individuals judged by later generations, and ignored by their contemporaries?(这个问题设得不好,毕竟大部分的伟人还是都同时代的和后世人尊重的) I would say 加个THAT比较正规,不过问题不大due to 后面应该跟名词吧?the influences of these splendid figures are various, some of their achievements can be recognized immediately; however, the other can only be completely太绝对的词了吧,不如去掉 evaluated by the later generations.

In the history, many great individuals enjoy a glorified life replete of public’s applauses and compliments. Mother Terisa devoted her entire life to help the people who are homeless, helpless and aimless, loved by people all over the world; Martin Luther King fought for the equality for the black people of America through his life, respected by suppressed blacks and sensible whites; Mark Twin wrote interesting but (but 不太好啊,不如通俗点就用and)profound books, regarded as the best author by his large readers 巨大的读者?不如用a large number of readers)worldwide. These giants received their praises from their contemporaries because their achievements harvest huge effect soon, and correspond to the value and esthetic standards of the contemporary society.和大多数的问题一样,只有例子,但是我也想不到有什么好说理的,这方面我也很烂。句子的变化上还不错

Admittedly, there is 加个A??不太确定plethora of greatnesses defied even abhorred (都到憎恨的分上了啊?)by people living in the same period, but highly praised by modern society. Van Gogh had only sold out one of his paintings during his miserable life time, deserted by a prostitute, and committed suicide with a gun at last. (就不用把这个过程写这么详细了吧,知道是自杀的就好了嘛)However, he is regarded as one of the greatest painters in the history, his paintings are sold at a prohibited high price in the auction, and thousands ordinary painters desire his unbeatable talent. Ying Zheng, the very first empire of the whole ancient China, abominated by his people as an atrocious beast.(都给你说成是畜生了) Whereas he had killed many innocent people for no good reason, later historians think highly of him for he first unified ancient divisive China, established a centralized autocracy, and promoted a national standard for money and measurements. By the way, he had presided the construction of the Great Wall, which became the significant symbol of China and a famous tourism spot.
还是例子啊例子)

In the second place, the contemporaries tend to be restrained by the temporal circumstance and can’t image the influence the greatness would have in the distant future. Human are always prone to believe the exterior phenomena and concern their own interests. (突然跑出个例子来,怎么不有个信号词?)Rome pope decided to bourn Copernicus to death and to inhibit his theory for the Catholicism’s own sake. (上面这句看了好几回,长句People in ancient Greek believed that the heavier a matter is, the faster it falls, claimed by Aristotle, until Galileo carried out the famous experiment on the Pisa tower.

In conclusion, the speaker over simplifies the recognition of greatness. In my view, sometimes contemporaries are able to decide the greatness of the preeminent individuals, at least partly. However, those achievements beyond our limitation can only be left to the offspring as surprise gifts.(结尾不错)
论证全放在最后一段了,前面的两段例子举得也不错,第三段的说理条理还算清楚,力度还差了点,词句方面不错了,在加油吧
