The speaker asserts that with the development of television people can through TV programs, if any, learn as much as they read books, the importance of reading books is decreasing to some extent. However, in my point of view, I am not quite agree with the assertion, no matter how typical the TV poses influence to the learning process, the place of books could never be replaced by the television, especially in the academic fields.

Obviously, with the rapid advancement of technology and science today, we can never imagine there is no television for us to watch TV show anymore. Nowadays, almost every family own at least one or two televisions at home, and once our eyes were appealed by the diverse and wonderful shows, we can hardly moves them away. People can even learn much from the excellent programs, such as the "Discovery" , we can adventure in the topical rainforests and discovery many species facing with extinction, and through the cooking show we are taught how to manage a delicate meal, and people can be educated by some specific teaching programs at home, and so forth. The television with its video and audio stimulates our memory and help us learn lots of information and knowledge.

However, it is promising that the TV would play a more significant role in our learning process, at the same time, people cannot forget the merits of reading books. The most essential part of human wisdom such as philosophy is recorded in the books, people can study and understand it only by reading, the information inherited from our splendid ancestor is so abstract that the vivid picture of TV could not convey. Besides, in other academic realms, if people do not master the preliminary knowledge of the discipline that can only be gained by reading related thesis, it is impossible for them to perform further research. Besides, there are other virtues of books: they are much cheaper to afford, they have no radioactive and they are more convenient to take.

Moreover, with the proper aid of television, if it is an appreciable way to take, people can enhance the efficiency and quality of learning with books and impose positive influence on it. In other words, the television should be treated as an assistant of books, people can understand the knowledge more directly and thoroughly. It is like that, if people can not figure out what on earth is the relativity of Einstein, they can see the amiable picture which explains the theory of relativity performing on the scientific program.(这个例子真的想不出来啊).

In sum, people can learn a lot through television, but books are still playing the most important part in the learning process. People should utilize the advantages of television to benefit the learning process of reading books.
