Issue 3838"In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."

Do people living in the age of television learn as much from television as they from reading books? the speaker claim so. And I concede that with the increasingly sophisticated technology in digital broadcast and media, nowadays ,there are more easy access available for us to get various information and knowledge ,such as computer, e-books, and television mentioned in topic, rather than our predecessor who can only from written books. Nevertheless, reading books should not be put an unimportant position; as an effective way of carrying and breeding human wisdom, books are still of the equal or even more significance than before.

Firstly, it is the fact that television provide us a new world effluent with information of a variety of fields ,as well as an vivid easy to way to learning the knowledge by real background sound ,moving pictures, and attractive appearance resulting from special  technological effect. To understand this ,one need to look no further than some special programs on TV prepared for children in the modern time; instead of still animal pictures on black and white paper versions , today's cartoon are fulfilled with attractive music, vocal company, and fast moving flash effect, which not only be attractive enough to draw children's interests but most of them aiming to instill to customers; schoolchildren here, are very impressive  thereby able to inform watchers to remember the senses easily or learn the knowledge with pleasure. Besides ,television also be able to presents news and reports in an real way by videos, and make the information more well -rounded for audiences, which are advantages unavoidable by reading books or other traditional written stuff.

Nevertheless, few people will disagree with the fact that when impacting us resourceful information, today's television, containing too many violence programs, and undesirable advertisements also play an passive role to our mind and values. If  paying attention to all programs during a day , one will deserve that there always be many annoy advertisements interrupting our watching to some certain serials or reports, which also use persuasively misleading ,even false information sometimes to make audience to purchase things which is undesirable or unsuitable. Moreover, without seamless supervision to all shows , the televisions are presenting too many anti-social, passive , and violent movies or speeches to us , and it is always our children who unable to judge by themselves our work out a value system for determine what is right and wrong, influenced badly by these noxious shows , which also bring potential detrimental efforts for society's future stability and security. Therefore, instead of teaching more television sometimes bring bad effect to our knowledge and values under some situations.

On the other hand , the developing process of human society informs us ; books , having experienced long time supervision are the mentors for our progress. Comparing to immediate information from television, knowledge in books are typically more reliable and meaningful. The advancement procedure in science world can aptly illustrate this ;we can always learn that theories or personal work even from famous scholars or powerful politicians were corrected or even unproved by learners living in the same periods or after ,if the theories and  works are substantiated with mistakes. only by experiencing the tests of time and critics from other person and being proved and polished can these theories or human minds be printed on books in front of us .Of course , the containing are prone to be more precise and valuable.

Finally, reading books provides us another advantage though learning; that is; we can choose the fields of information we need or interested in to read in which place we feel comfortable. Since readers to books are given more control and freedom over when , what , and where to continue the learning rather than television viewers, there still a lot of people relying on written stuff to get to know outside information, learning knowledge ,and looking for entertainment. For example, one can get a good relax after complaining heavy day work, simply by reading the fiction he or she favorite in the couch at home without worrying when the television shows are supposed to begin at night. This also play an active role for cultivating well being condition for human physical body as common sense in medical fields tells us that both the radiative effect and long time's lacking of exercise are bad for our health. In short, books still a good way to learning and relaxing in comparison with TV.

To sum up, when posing great attention to the positive respects of TV in its effort of enriching human knowledge and bring us broader horizon to information in a pleasant access, we should also realize some side effects it bring to human mind and physical condition. Besides, as an comparatively precise and enduring way of learning, books are still of unreputable significance in preserving knowledge and wisdom as before.
