185 “Scandals—whether in politics, academia, or other areas—can be useful. They focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could. ” [05/64; 06/4]
Key word: useful
Outline:
1. It is people's nature to focus on scandals, which may reveal some unknown, usually shocking fairs about famous people.
Scandals can always call people's attention to the shocking fairs concealed behind the celebrities. With the revealing of scandals, people can have a comprehensive recognition of the famous individuals and focus on the flaw of our social institution. However, considering that it is public's curiosity which actually intrigue media to expose scandals, some unfair comments or excessive---过多, 我想了好一会儿,也没有想出来 scandals may lead the public 也许不要冠词 to unnecessary panic and result to unstable society.------那么到底是同意他有用,还是没有用,还是既有用有没用呢?
It is people's nature to focus on scandals, which may reveal some unknown, usually shocking fairs about famous people. Scandals, in other words the false action of celebrities, are attribute to human being's natural flaws---这句话有点不认同,虽然下一句话可以说. It is common sense that all people are not perfect, and flaws are inevitable during everyone's whole life. Then what is the ultimate reason induce people to discover the concealed fairs of celebrities but not the error committed by people around us? Two factors may cause the phenomena: One is that celebrities, who is usually excellent in some area, appears perfect in front of public. These people are chosen among general people, so they are granted to be excellent. In order to form comprehensive recognition, curiosity of public entice people to focus on all the reports about celebrities especially scandals. By discovering the ignominious facets of the seems ----这个好像是动词perfect individuals, equilibrium can rouse calm in people's mind.------这个我也写了,但只能写一句话,就是和人们的认知矛盾,所以能吸引注意 On the other hand, scandals, although attribute to human being's flaws, can become an implement to censor our social institution. The Watergate Scandal uncovered the evens that U.S. President Nixon's administration's abuse of power toward the goal of undermining the Democratic Party and the opposition to the Vietnam War. By the two valiant reporters, most Americans began to doubt the actual faction of CREEP. Then, the continually revealed facts shocked Americans for they knew their government engaged in illegal or unethical actions to ensure its unshakable ruling status. The government didn't use their authority which allowed by public to guarantee welfare of society just as they claimed.----嗯,这一点和我不一样,不过你写的挺有道理的。
As stated above, mass media play an important role in revealing scandals.----感觉这个TS没有将你要表达的意思表达出来,你中文提纲挺好的,特有逻辑感觉! Scandals in politics and academia can keep public being sensitive with potential perils, but some scandals about trifle affairs such as sexual scandals which only cater to curiosity of public seem senseless. Media is a mirror that can reflect various facts abound from the background of campaign of present to updated price of vegetable. We can't ignore the paramount faction of the two reporters who expose the scandals of Nixon under the thread of current government at that time. Without the power of mass media, Nixon wouldn't finally commit his crime and be tried on court. But we still can't overlook the main purpose of media--attract people's eyes. Driven by this purpose, some media cling to collect as many as possible information about sexual scandals of actors and other celebrities, as long as their reports are popular. In this case, harmful influence is disseminated although it meet part of people's curiosity.----这段本来不是要表达如果解释制度问题,丑闻就是有用的么?
Public , just like a ship, may driven hither and thither in every storm without correct lead. Scandals may lead the public to unnecessary panic and result to unstable society. Too many scandals of inside story of a plot exposed affront of public,----一小句话有三个of 啊! people will hold that no politicians don't lie, then even some correct measure couldn't be carried efficiently because the public has lose heart to the government. For another, attentions of public may only be paid on the trivial scandals but not useful thing in their life. Thinking that gossip filled up our life, what should be cherished will go by with wind---好像是go with wind-----乱世佳人,好像就是这个. Worse is that, some scandals are always be utilized by unmoral purpose before people can be conscious of it. In the Watergate Scandal, people usually paid their attentions---可数么? on the unethical things of Nixon and draw him down, but they didn't aware----be aware of that the adversity of Nixon was using the scandal to assure his success in campaign--在竞选中获胜吧?.
To summarize, scandals actually can gain people's attention and are more convictive to some extent. Nevertheless, the more important thing is the attitude of public to scandals, whether scandals can really play a positive role in purging our society or just blur people's sight.
