With the development of internet in this information age, it is clear that people can communicate with each other more conveniently and quickly. They can easily get access to other people's thought and felling, meanwhile they can not avoid being affected by other people's comment and opinion concerning their behaviors. This dilemma is also worrying the leaders both in politics and business world, which in my point of view is no big deal if they hold on to their beliefs.
I prefer to avoid using “you” in the analytical writing.
The topic of this issue give a “leader” while does not mention which field the “leader” belong to; however, here you just focus on two fields—politics and business, which may not easy for you to get a general conclusion. How about the other fields’ leaders?
To be a preeminent leader, one need to make sure he or she can take prompt actions and more importantly, wise actions. It seemed to be no real difficulties to leaders in the past in that their actions and decision can neither be affected greatly nor heard immediately by citizens. But leaders nowadays can never have the ease in making decisions. To get rid of this dilemma, it is significant to keep their beliefs in mind and committed to them all the time. Political and religious belief as well as personal principles serves as directions in front of problems. Actually, it is psychologically true and you can consider the following example. Let's imagine there are two walkers walking in a street and they both face a crossing and have to choose a direction to move forward. One walker wants to go to a library for some books and the other one is just jogging and has no exact destination, then, in this case, it is clear /obvious (you may use “obvious” to replace “clear” in order to get rid of using the same word “clear” as before in the first sentence of paragraph.) that the latter will stop and decide which way to go but the former will keep on going to the very direction that lead him or her to the library. This goes to show the importance of being strong in faith and beliefs, especially to an effective leader.
The example you show in this paragraph seems inappropriate, though finally you turn back on your point, more or less, making it involved with “an effective leader”. Indeed, the content of your example does no use here for supporting your standpoint. Try another case to fit your viewpoint may good for the whole writing.
However, in the contemporary society, the drastically changing surroundings and situations makes it impossible for leaders to make right decisions all the time. Being too confidence in oneself is detrimental to the parties or groups under the leader's charge. A case in business world serves to illustrate this point well. Economy nowadays seems to be developing healthy and quickly, but in fact, our economy is more unstable and is affected by many other factors. Those who have stocks can understand this situation well. A leader of a business group or a company will accomplish nothing if he or she only believes in his or her own judgment. Teamwork is needed in this case and being able to listen and corporate with other people seems to be the most important quality of a successful leader.
Teamwork also need leadership and what your discussion here makes me a little confused. Making his/her judgment firmly does not means that a leader ignores the teamwork, or, say, “teamwork” and “leadership” are not two terms against to each other. Thus such example may consider more.
But being able to listen to other people as I just mentioned means everything but being affected easily. Popularity sometimes changes fast and people's opinions are not all advisable. There is a difference between an effective leader and a "modest one". An effective leader gets advice from other people, but does not take action before carefully judging the soundness of this piece of advice by own principles. A modest leader listen to what ever other people suggest and eventually gets lost in popularity. Obviously, people would like to be an effective leader instead of a modest one. (This sentence may be organized again, I think.) Bear in mind, successful leaders share the same quality with droplets, they are flexible enough to change their shapes and directions but still keep its functions.
In conclusion, although it is quite difficult to become an effective leader with wise decisions and shrewd foresights, it is significant to first remain committed to your (Are you talking with a leader now? or, the common readers?) beliefs and principles and be able to listen to other people's advice.
Your writing skill is quite good, while you may concentrate more on the logic of how to organize your writing and try to pick up some appropriate examples to fit your discussions in your composition.
All what I have commented above is my own personal viewpoint of your writing about this issue and you may keep your consciousness on it.
