TOPIC: ARGUMENT50 - From a draft textbook manuscript submitted to a publisher.

"As Earth was being formed out of the collision of space rocks, the heat from those collisions and from the increasing gravitational energy of the planet made the entire planet molten, even the surface. Any water present would have evaporated and gone off into space. As the planet approached its current size, however, its gravitation became strong enough to hold gases and water vapor around it as an atmosphere. Because comets are largely ice made up of frozen water and gases, a comet striking Earth then would have vaporized. The resulting water vapor would have been retained in the atmosphere, eventually falling as rain on the cooled and solidified surface of Earth. Therefore, the water in Earth's oceans must have originated from comets."

In the argument, the author asserts that the water in Earth's oceans much derive from comets that contain ice largely made up of frozen water and gases. To support the claim, the author points that any water that was present on the surface of the earth would have evaporated and gone off into space in the primary formation of the planet. Close scrutiny of these evidences reveals that they lend little credible support to the assertion.

To start with, the assertion is based on an unverifiable assumption and therefore is wholly unwarranted as it stands. The author simply assumes that the Earth was formed out of the collision of space rocks which can not been substantiated in the science. No enough scientific evidence and observation is available to prove the premise and common experience and sense shows that even in science researching the assumption has not been proved completely. Even assuming that the Earth was formed of collision of space rocks, water that was present on the surface of earth may exist under certain situations such as extremely high pressure in spite of the high temperature. In short, the assertion remains unpersuasive until the author substantiates the assumption completely.

Furthermore, the author claims that the water in Earth's oceans originate from comet too hastily and groundlessly. No evidence is provided that there ever are collision between the Earth and comet. Besides, even under the scenario of comet's collision with the Earth, it is possible that the ice in comets have been evaporated in the exterior of the Earth before the water can access the Earth's surface. What's more, the author simply makes two irreconcilable claims. On the one hand, the author claims that water can not exist on the Earth under the collision of space rocks; on the other hand, the author claims that water can form the ocean of Earth when the Earth collided with comets. Since the Earth and comets are both space bodies the assertion in the argument is just self-contradictory.

Finally, the author ignores other possibilities that may form the water in Earth's ocean. Actually, water may come into being under certain chemical reaction in the interior of Earth. For example, a variety of water will become vapor when volcanoes erupt. Besides, the collision of Earth with other celestial bodies may also form water in Earth since comet is not the only celestial bodies that may collide with Earth. Without ruling out these possibilities and addressing them, the author just can not convince me that the water in Earth's oceans must have originated from comets.

In the argument, the author asserts that the water in Earth's oceans much(must) derive from comets that contain ice largely made up of frozen water and gases.

The author simply assumes that the Earth was formed out of the collision of space rocks which can not been???? substantiated in the science. No enough(no了就不要enough) scientific evidence and observation is available to prove the premise and common experience and sense shows(show) that even in science researching the assumption has not been proved completely. Even assuming that the Earth was formed of collision of space rocks, water that was present on the surface of earth may exist under certain situations such as extremely high pressure in spite of the high temperature.(厉害啊) In short, the assertion remains unpersuasive until the author substantiates the assumption completely.

Furthermore, the author claims that the water in Earth's oceans originate from comet too hastily and groundlessly. No evidence is provided that there ever are collision between the Earth and comet. Besides, even under the scenario of comet's collision with the Earth, it is possible that the ice in comets have(has) been evaporated in the exterior of the Earth before the water can access the Earth's surface. What's more, the author simply makes two irreconcilable claims. On the one hand, the author claims that water can not exist on the Earth under the collision of space rocks; on the other hand, the author claims that water can form the ocean of Earth when the Earth collided with comets.(这里不是吧,它所的是前一阶段水吸不住,地球长大了就可以了) Since the Earth and comets are both space bodies the assertion in the argument is just self-contradictory.

Finally, the author ignores other possibilities that may form the water in Earth's ocean. Actually, water may come into being under certain chemical reaction in the interior of Earth. For example, a variety of water will become vapor when volcanoes erupt.(为什么要说变成气呢) Besides, the collision of Earth with other celestial bodies may also form water in Earth since comet is not the only celestial bodies that may collide with Earth. Without ruling out these possibilities and addressing them, the author just can not convince me that the water in Earth's oceans must have originated from comets.

这是一题还是有些麻烦的,网上有些人说第一点批不得。
为啥不写结尾了?
