177. "The study of an academic discipline alters the way we perceive the world. After studying the discipline, we see the same world as before, but with different eyes."
177. 对学科的研究会改变我们感知世界的方式。在学习这门学科之后,我们看到的世界一如既往,但看的角度和眼光已然不同。

提纲:

1.  首先,通过我们对科学的研究,我们看待世界的角度和眼光的确不同了。这点在针对一些永恒不变的自然现象中尤为突出。比如:在天文学还不发达的古代,人们总是将月蚀,日食之类的天文景观看作是不详之照,甚至是世界末日。而在天文学发达的今天,即使是小孩也能用科学的知识理性地解释诸如此类的自然现象。然而,虽然我们的角度和眼光与以前不同了,但是日食还是日食,彗星还是彗星,它们一如既往。

2.  然而,科学的研究推动的社会的发展,社会的发展导致了整个世界的变迁。由于科学的研究一直在进行,所以在任何时候世界都不可能是一如既往的。例子:从披兽皮住山洞到穿羽绒衫住摩天大楼,从赤脚徒步到飞机火箭,等等皆应征了科学发展的推动下,世界发生的巨大变化。

3.  当世界和我们感知世界的方式随着对科学的研究二者同时发生变化时,情况似乎变的更复杂了。其实我们仔细分析的话不难发现二者是互相制约,互相促进的。当我们进行科学研究,得到新的观点和角度时,我们处理事情的方式必然随其而改变。最终将导致世界的改变。例如:在以前人们对地球的生态了解甚少,滥砍滥伐,过度开采等掠夺性获取资源导致了生态平衡的破坏,随着科学研究的发展,当人们发现自然环境对人类的重要性,转而及时的努力控制资源的浪费以及生态的破坏。


The author claims that after studying the discipline which alters the way we perceive the world we see the same world as before, but with different eyes. In my point of view, although I agree with the assertion that our sight changes after studying the discipline, there are also few flaws in this viewpoint because the world always not be the same as before. The reasons are listed as follows.

To begin with, via the studying of academic discipline, we do have different eyes and angles to see the world. It is much more obvious in some perpetual natural phenomena. For instance, in ancient times when the astronomy was undeveloped, people always took the phenomenon like the eclipse as an ill omen or even the sign of doomsday. In contrast, nowadays, even a pupil could probably interpret such celestial phenomenon in mainstream science knowledge. However, things like the eclipse, comet or earthquake are remain the same as before, but what is changed is just our sight and angle.

Nevertheless, studying of academic discipline in science gives great impetus to the improvement of society which also leads to the development of the whole world. As the studying in science is running all the time, almost everything in the world could hardly remain the same as before. From people’s wearing fells and living in caves to wearing down jackets to living in skyscrapers, from walking by naked feet to driving airplanes and rockets, all of which witness the earthshaking changes in the human world caused by the studying in various fields. From above, the point of the author that the world remains the same would be unstable and baseless.

In addition, when both the world and our way to apperceive the world change with the studying of discipline, the condition seems to be more complex. Actually, we could be comfortable to find that both of them have synergistic and complementary effect through careful analysis. In other words, when we get new point of view in looking on the world by studying some academic areas, our methods of handling things would change with them, and then the world changes ultimately. For example, at the time when people had little knowledge about the zoology of the earth, the predatory catching of natural resource such as timber mining, overexploitation of oil and mines ruined the ecological balance badly. But, as the studying of the relationship between the nature world and human beings developing, people more and more notice the importance of natural environment and then do their best to control the further waste and destroy of natural resource and ecosystem. These analysis link the change of world and the change of our eyes cogent.

All in all, from what I listed above, it is easy to come to the conclusion that not only the eyes we used to see the world change, but also the world itself changes always after we studying the academic discipline.

The author claims that after studying the discipline which alters the way we perceive the world we see the same world as before [as it was being seen before], but with different eyes[repetition: "alter the way" and "with different eyes" ]. In my point of view, although I agree with the assertion that our sight changes after studying the discipline, there are also few [few: using this word here may have completely opposite meaning, I don't know whether you want to represent some flaws or almost none here] flaws in this viewpoint because the world always not be [where is the predicate? " always not be"  --> "is not always being"] the same as before. The reasons are listed as follows.[as follows: a comon should be put at the end of "as follows" .]


[In the paragaraph above, we know your position--agreeing with the assertion that after studying disciplines we change our views towards the world, but in your Chinese outline, we get another position that you partly agree with the speaker, in other words, from these sentences, we cannot make clear whether you agree with the speaker, maybe you don't express your position well here.]

From people’s wearing fells and living in caves to wearing down [wear down: (1)reduce or impair by long wearing; (2)make or become weaker by constant pressure or attack; (3)prevail by persistence] jackets to living in skyscrapers, from walking by naked feet [barefoot would be more native]to driving [piloting would be more suitable] airplanes and rockets, all of which [Using "which" here, you may put only nouns before it because this "which" stand for the things you list ahead ] witness the earthshaking changes in the human world caused by the studying in various fields. From above, the point of the author that the world remains the same would be unstable [pls check the meaning, you may confuse it with other words] and baseless.


[This paragraph is unpersuaviable because from your topic sentence, you play much emphasis on the impetus that the studying of science can give, but you tell little about the impetus in this paragraph to reforce your opinion about how the studying gives impetus to the improvement of society and how it influences our way to see or perceive the world, even as your last sentence states how the world is not be the same as the author imagined, the reason should be elaborated more clearly and detailly]


In addition, when both the world and our way to apperceive [what does this word mean?] the world change with the studying of discipline, the condition seems to be more complex. Actually, we could be comfortable to find that both of them have synergistic and complementary effect through careful analysis. In other words, when we get new point of view in looking on the world by studying some academic areas, our methods of handling things would change with them, and then the world changes ultimately. But, as the studying of the relationship between the nature world and human beings developing[develops], people more and more[more and more people] notice the importance of natural environment and then do their best to control the further waste and destroy[devastation of ecosystem and depletion of natural resources] of natural resource and ecosystem. These analysis link the change of world and the change of our eyes cogent [cogent means to the point].

All in all, from what I listed above, it is easy to come to the conclusion that not only the eyes we used to see the world change, but also the world itself changes always [always cannot be put behand verb]after we studying/study the academic discipline.


Be better now, please pay more attention to usages of some words and make clear the meaning of some phrase. Lucky!
