How do we find the discoveries or creations in the pursuit of the knowledge and truth? The speaker claims that most important discoveries or creations are accidental in that it is often we come across an answer to one question while seeking the answer to another. From my perspective, it is true that some discoveries in the world are sometimes unexpected; however, when it comes to the creations, the majority of them are as a result of the acute insight, the hard working and fully prepared plans of the people, which are seldom accidental as the speak asserts.

Admittedly, in terms of the discoveries, a multitude of them are come from unexpected chances. In the science realm, a good example is the finding of gravity of Newton. As everybody knows, an apple falling down from trees and accidentally hit the head of little Newton when he was just five years old. Then, Newton was inspired and discovery the gravity as last. Without such an unexpected experience, it is quite possible we are still worried about the phenomenon that why human beings cannot fly just as birds do. What is more, the discovery of X-ray, the finding of America continent, just mention a few--both of which are found accidentally. In short, a large number of discoveries in the history are come out beyond the expectation of people.

However, when it comes to the creations, rarely can they be accidentally produced. What a creation need is a fully developed plan and constant experiments. Simply put Einstein as an instance. As we know, Einstein have carried out thousands of experiments and suffered countless failure during the process of inventing bulbs, and then the bulb which we are still using now was created finally. It seems clear that it is the proper plan and repeating experiments rather than the accidental event that result in such a significant invention. Refer to other most important creations—such as telephone, airplane, computer, and so forth—all of which are invented under the direction of plans and experiments but the unexpected fortune.

In addition, the most significant discoveries or creations also require certain characteristics of the people who fulfill them, for instance: abundant knowledge concerning the realm, acute insight to seize the accidental affair, and sufficient reasoning abilities, which is necessary to the “accidental” finding. Returning to the Newton example mentioned earlier, why is Newton but not anybody else discover the existing of gravity? Lots of people have experienced the incident that hit by a book or an orange, yet they feel nothing but hurt. However, little Newton seize the accidental thing and bring it forward and successfully create the most fundamental theory in science. As the saying goes,” chances only happen to the prepared mind”, it is Newton himself make the creation, just with the help of such an unexpected event.

All in all, in my point of view, although several discoveries are accidentally found; however, the accidental incident just inspire the thought of people, as a matter of fact, it is the people that contribute to the eventually successful creations. Without the particular plans and repeating experiments, without the knowledge, insight and reasonable skills the inventor possess, the accidental thing will only be “accidental” for good.

…………………
