Which is more significant to the economic success of people? The speaker claims that conformity contribute more to the personal economic success in spite of most people recognize the benefits of individuality. From my perspective, it is true that conformity is necessary for people to gain success; however, the importance of individuality far outweighs that of conformity.

Admittedly, to fulfill the personal economic success, people need conformity under some circumstances. For instance, when one choose his or her major, it is necessary for him or her to take into account the need of the society. Once the student selects the right major and enters the popular area, he or she is liable to get higher salaries when after graduation. Those who majors in software design, for instance, are now the ones who have the highest wages in average among their peers. For that case, people should conform to the environment, sometimes even cater to the demand of society—which can be advantageous for their economic development in the future.

However, on the other hand, the individuality is crucial to people when it comes to get the chance to make success. Simply put job-hunting as an example. There are a increasing number of students graduate from schools every year, such as students majoring in economics, sociology, computer technology, and so forth--all of which are willing to find a satisfied jobs. Most of the graduates have almost the same education background and research experience, which makes the competition extremely fierce. Hence, if one wants to attract the attention of boss and get the employment at last, he or she has to be distinguish with others and show the unique characteristics and ideas known by boss. Then, he or she has more chance to be acknowledged and then get be employed at last. In short, it is the individuality that you differ from other people and attract the attention of others.

In addition, individuality is also important in terms of people who are already had certain success in his career. For instance, as for a manager of clothes company, how can he promote his career to a higher lever? It is the individuality that can be helpful. As we know, there are thousands of companies selling clothes, if a company means to possess more share of the market, the manager should implement a policy which is different from other companies. Such as the style of clothes, the slogan of advertisement, the measure of sales promotion, etc. Without the speciality mentioned above, the brand of the production will soon forgotten by the consumers, the economy of the company will confront depression, and then the manager will have no other alternative but to step down.

All in all, in my point of view, although conformity is fundamental to the success of people; however, if one wants to receive more chances or promote his career to another lever, that is, to get greater economic success in the increasingly competitive world, he or she should find a way to be distinguished with others. Without the individuality, rarely can people make refulgent success.
