There is no denying that the birth of computers and video technology has significantly helped people research in nearly in every field, since they can provide access to the original works for those who do not have the opportunities. However, to gain the access to those works is just the first step to a successful research. There are many other factors that are even more primary than the computers and video technology in the field of learning.
Admittedly, we should acknowledge that it is much more convenient for those researchers to observe the works, either they are available or not. (这句话很模糊啊)For those who do not have those works at hand, the information offered by the computers and video may be the only source they may rely on for the further study. Without the basic information, it is impossible for them to initiate their job at all. Just like the paintings on the wall of church done by Raphael. No one can assert they the paintings belong to him, and it is obviously a better idea to study the paintings thorough the records rather than stay at the church for too long a time or at high frequency.
个人觉得你随便编个例子说外国人研究别国文物什么的是否更好,呵呵我觉得这个例子不够贴切,要我肯定直接去教堂... Even for those who have the works at hand, the new technology does play a vital role. Many works are so precious and flaccid that it may be inevitable to bring them harm if they are observed too frequently by the scholars, just as the Sculptures of Soldiers made 2000 years ago in Xi'an China.(需要解释...) In such cases, the records provided by the video camera can be widely spread from internet and computers, and thus the researchers who are interested in those works can share the information about them without bring about too much harm to them.
However, for the in-depth research on such works, merely depend on the records is apparently far not enough. First, the records provided by the video camera are at last fundamentally different from the true experiences when one is actually at the very spot. Take the paintings of Raphael again for example. Although the video camera can show the accurate and convincing details of the paintings, they cannot provide the magnificent atmosphere one feels when they stand in the center of the church, crowded by the glorious masterpieces. And such self spiritual enjoyment and shock cannot be placed with the material things, like the descriptions of others in words, or the video records. Always it is the emotion rather than the organic feelings that inspire the researchers the great ideas, just as it did in Daqian Zhang, a famous scholar on the most popular ancient Chinese paintings. 'Not until I witness the real masterpieces did I touch inner spirit of those works and the heart of their authors.' he once said. To stand in front of the extant masterpieces are superior to watch them thorough a glass screen, at last.(这段有道理,但是,气氛这个东西不知道论证是不是足够强)
What is more, the computers and video technology can provide people the objective and accurate reflect of the works; however, the knowledge, background information and other subjective and terse information which is also essential for further analysis and understand has to be learnt and by the people themselves, not those machines. At last the machines are not living so they can only mechanically record the phenomena but fail to conduct the inner meaning of the works, which are the achievements of the great people's thoughts. A beginner lacking basic knowledge of the paintings can never study the profound meanings of Van Gogh's works merely thorough watching the records or pictures of his works. He should learn much about the arts himself, and all these are beyond the ability of computers and video technology. In such cases, the contributions of the technology are seriously limited.
In summary, we cannot emphasis the significance of the computers and video technology in the realm of study of arts too much. However, it is still essential for us to learn ourselves.
