"The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."

History is account for what happened in the past, which seemingly has little relevance to present, let alone about the future. Granted that history provides copious of academic knowledge and scientific data, why do we bother to know how they were produced and evolved? Granted that history promotes recent stable society and booming economy, why do we bother to search for their origination instead of just enjoying these accomplishments? By the standard of modern people, the object that is relevant to our daily lives is much qualified for human's attention to study. Nevertheless, in my point of view the significance of history is far from the benefit for daily life, but extends to a much larger range in social and political spheres.

Admittedly, the history is closely bounded up to daily lives, which requires our urge to acknowledge it. Without history we can hardly assess these facilitated transportation which thousands of years ago are unimaginable; Without history we cannot hardly use the internet surfing to another exotic area, distinctive culture, or foreign anecdote immediately which thousands of years ago was merely a fantastic dream; Without history, we may still live in the Stone Age, chasing after the quarry as uncivilized savages. From these aspects, getting acquaintance with the developing process of these daily facilities will render you an advantage to make full use of these achieved results and carry forward to a much advanced and beneficial scale.

To put it into further analysis, the history, for the political region, exerts more potential merit to avoid the pitfalls and reduce the chance of inflexion. By the far-flung Chinese ancient dynasties, it is clearly to see that the collapse of a dynasty is always caused by the same reason, that is the merciless of the despot or the rigid rule exerted to the civilians. Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of China was overthrown by peasants for his cruel law to enroll labors to build the Great Wall, and he deprived the academic writing freedom as well. What is more, at the end of Ming Dynasty, a war against the government was launched for the identical reason. This unchangeable rule still dominates our present society---by learning from the past lessons, the government pays much attention to ordinary people's lives and their individual freedom. Thus, history assists the politicians to adopt a more appropriate policy by centuries-long experiment.

Furthermore, through the study of the past, we can seize the natural or social law to predict the future. Every society has its deeply-ingrained law for us to follow because of the actual existence of the physical world and people's common urge to seek for ever-lasting happy life. Hundreds years ago, for instance, Carl Marx asserted his point that the human society will experience five social stages: that is the barbarism society, the slave society, the feudalism, the capitalism and communism. His assertion is rooted from his fundamentally search of human history and thus deduces the ultimate orientation of social development by the account of the long term accumulation of physical fortune, intelligent wealth, and exuberant community spirit .Unless he is familiar with the human history, he cannot predict the future to lead our heading way.

All in all, the value of the history is beyond the link to our daily lives as the author claims, and it is the history that promotes our society and government a promising future.
