Whether faculty in college or university should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professional works related to their fields, must firstly be addressed on the certain academic areas. With respect to fields in which is outside is suitable, I strongly agree with this statement that students and faculty all should turn their attention partly to something out of their academia.

At the beginning of building up the statement, there are two points to possess. First, in some academic areas, there are few scholars to talk about problems outside the academia such as the humanities, thereby working outside academia hardly. Secondly, the statement neglect that in some other academic areas professor’s responsibility is taken account in certain work outside the academia. This is especially true in the performing arts, and the faculty has to actively show techniques and styles to their students.

Aside from the two points, I strongly agree that students and faculty will be the dear beneficiary of college or university faculty’s working outside academia in a related professional position. There are three benefits of doing so.

First, it seems to me that faculty who engaged in the field teach us not only the knowledge filled the academia but also with new discovery and thoughts or hot liver about the subject at hand. At the same time, they also can bring some experiment in some other fields related to the academic area to their students, thereby extending more important interesting discuss, even conducing to some students to devote all his or her life in this field.

Secondly, in order to keeping up with the changing state of professional work, professor can give information which is abundant in the field to the students who surely decide to make a career in the field. In my experience, the advices from professor are most considerable, even thinking of the current of the job market. After all, so many years professor works in the field that every words from them become helpful, even valuable, to the student’s choice.

The third benefit for faculty has to do with their research and discovery in their academic areas. “If I have seen further than certain other men it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.” said by Newton. Surely, he made a lot, but as he said that the foundation of his research or discovery is that “standing upon the shoulders of giants”. The same is true of a certain type of people who directly seeks truth such as college and university faculty who sometimes working outside academia related to their subject.

In sun, at the college and university level, professors and students caring about nothing but something in their own field is unwise and ridiculous. Both of them should be the dear beneficiary when faculty achieve their academic research or discovery by standing outside the academia sometimes.

"Doctors have long suspected that secondary infections may keep some
patients from healing quickly after severe muscle strain. This hypothesis
has now been proved by preliminary results of a study of two groups of
patients. The first group of patients, all being treated for muscle
injuries by Dr. Newland, a doctor who specializes in sports medicine, took
antibiotics regularly throughout their treatment. Their recuperation time
was, on average, 40 percent quicker than typically expected. Patients in
the second group, all being treated by Dr. Alton, a general physician,
were given sugar pills, although the patients believed they were taking
antibiotics. Their average recuperation time was not significantly
reduced. Therefore, all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain
would be well advised to take antibiotics as part of their treatment."

colors the exteriors of homes should be painted. Since then, average
property values have tripled in Brookville. In order to raise property
values in Deerhaven Acres, we should adopt our own set of restrictions on
landscaping and housepainting."
