TOPIC: ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws."
WORDS: 547          TIME: 0:37:42          DATE: 2007-3-21

I partly agree with the author's assertion, because it may not be so easy to identify just laws and unjust laws. If there are really just laws, of course we should fully obey, however, disobey or against unjust laws may not turn out to be truly beneficial, even harmful.

First, actually there are not clear categorize between just laws and unjust laws. On one hand, there are many laws made just to regulate people's normal behaviors and keep the stability of daily lives of citizens', thus leting alone just or unjust. For example, a Canadian law claims that people have to drive on the left of roads. Clearly, such laws are made just to protect people's safety and the regulations of society. For citizens, it is hard to be called just or unjust. On the other hand, one law may seems different in diverse persons because of their different personal benefit. If a company makes some chemical materials that may harm neighborhood's health, it may be punished by certain laws. For those people living around, of course this is a just law, while in the eyes of the company management suffering from serious punishment, this piece of laws is just meaningless and steal the company's rights, which of course is an unjust one. That is to say, in some cases, it is just unable to clearly identify and distinguish just laws and unjust laws, not to mention obey them or against them.

Admittedly, if some laws are considered just by most of its citizens, of course we should obey it. Anyway, the law is used to govern the society and control the behavior of its members. Imagine if most citizens disobey reasonable laws, people kill others as they want, how terrible our society may become. Not only so, people who consciously disobey just laws will get themselves seriously punished, even lose their lives. So, it is harmful to both society and ordinary people to disobey just laws.

Finally, disobeying some seemingly unjust laws may not turn out to be beneficial to society and citizens. In some case, the courage of citizens to disobey unjust laws may lead to abuse of criminal. For example, some people consider the law against A as totally unjust, and some patients' family bravely disobey it by injecting fatal chemical materials to release the patient from pain. However, if people are encouraged to disobey this law and adopt such ways to end some cancer patients' lives, someone may use such opportunity to kill people and escape from being punished. Once such behaviors are popular around the whole society, of course people's lives and other rights will never be fully protected and the authority of law will be largely decrease, thus little function of the whole system of laws. Therefore, before we make clear the exact condition and predict certain consequence, we cannot carelessly disobey unjust laws.

In sum, since we may never be able to identity just laws and unjust laws, the author's suggestion may not be easily followed. Even if we can, the consequence of disobeying unjust laws may not be so good and may even harm the whole society. So we have to obey just laws, and do not consciously disobey any laws before we assure the unfair or any other in it.

On one hand, there are many如果承接上句的话,是不是应该用alllaws made just to regulate people's normal behaviors and keep the stability of daily lives of citizens', 什么是just?为什么与regulate people's normal behaviors无关呢thus no just or unjust. For example, a Canadian law claims that people have to drive on the left of roads. Clearly, such laws are made just to protect people's safety and the regulations of society. For citizens, it is hard to be called just or unjustwhy?. On the other hand, one law may seems different in diverse persons because of their different personal benefit. If a company makes some chemical materials that may harm neighborhood's health, it may be punished by certain laws. For those people living around, of course this is a just law, while in the eyes of the company management suffering from serious punishment, this piece of laws is just meaningless and steal the company's rights, which of course is an unjust one.这个理由不是很赞同,上面这个法律方面上没问题,如果要说不同的人看法不同应该举不同地域,不同风俗文化上的,或者同地区人们在不同时期的看法 That is to say, in some cases, it is just unable to clearly identify and distinguish just laws and unjust laws, not to mention obey them or against them.彻底晕菜

Admittedly, if some laws are considered just这个的标准是怎样的? by most of its citizens, of course we should obey it. 不遵守有问题,遵守有好处?这个可以直接推出来么?

Finally, disobeying some seemingly unjust laws may not turn out to be beneficial to society and citizens. In some case, the courage of citizens to disobey unjust laws may lead to abuse of criminal. For example, some people consider the law against A as totally unjust, and some patients' family bravely disobey it by injecting fatal chemical materials to release the patient from pain. However, 转,转,转哪去了?if people are encouraged to disobey this law and adopt such ways to end some cancer patients' lives, someone may use such opportunity to kill people and escape from being punished. Once such behaviors are popular around the whole society, of course people's lives and other rights will never be fully protected and the authority of law will be largely decrease, thus little function of the whole system of laws. Therefore, before we make clear the exact condition and predict certain consequence, we cannot carelessly disobey unjust laws和前面没什么关系。。可能是写得太深了欧看不懂了

I partly agree with the author's assertion, because it may not be so easy to identify just laws and unjust laws. If there are really just laws,(If some laws are accepted by most citizens and the government as just ones,) of course we should fully obey them, however,(but that does not necessarily mean we should resist unjust ones. Actually, to) disobey or against unjust laws may not turn out to be truly beneficial, even harmful.

First, actually there are not clear categorize(partition) between just laws and unjust laws. For citizens, it is hard to be called just or unjust(). On the other hand, one law may seems different in diverse persons because of their different personal benefit(interest). If a company makes some chemical materials that may harm neighborhood's health, it may be punished by certain laws. For those people living around, of course this is (considered)a just law, while in the eyes of the company management suffering from serious punishment, this piece of laws is just meaningless and steal the company's rights, which of course is an unjust one. That is to say, in some cases, it is just unable to clearly identify and distinguish just laws and unjust laws, not to mention obey them or against them.
