ISSUE 41
  In modern times,science and technology have come to pervade every aspect of our daily lives,and as a result,our society is devoloping at a speed which is quite unpresedented.meanwhile,  
People’s mental world also undergo great changes, for one thing, then kowaledge accumulated in
people’s brain soon expanded,for another, the fast rhythm of lives exerted too much pressure on people. All these made people accepted some nonmainstream thought such as astrology,fortune-
telling psychic and paranomal pursuits and so on.
  It seems that such nonmainstream satisfy the needs of people which are beyond the area of mainstream science. In truth, it never dose nor can do. Such thing are just superstition that can console peoples’heart at its best.
  Neither can these thing meet human’s true needs nor did it benefit the development of mainstream science, Indeed,the existence of such nonstream idea prevent science against going forth. Because the principle such as destiny and superpower which they advocated is opposite to scientific principle which points that people should pursue the original situation behind varies patterns they appear. Besides such unrational thoughts can make people commit to some extreamly ideas and acts. Let us suppose once a young man who believe telling fortune strongly,if
the teller tells him he has got bad destiny, what would the young man feel? Even if he won’t go to an extream to give up his life , it must cast great shallow on his confidence which will surely have bad effect on his future. In a word, such nonmainstream does much harm to the whole society and the individual.
  However,in another aspect, we must anylize the reasons why nonmainstream thoughts can spring out and have been survived in human’s history . When we are in primitive age, our knowledge about the circumstance was so poor that our ancestors had to imagine some supernatual power to help them overcome their dread..Since then such nonmainstream mind began to develop,today, although science have achieved much success in varied areas,there are still many problem unsolved which leave the room for superstition. So we can say that nonmainstream can survive only with science not fully developed.
   From all the above offered, the nonmainstream areas ofiquiry mentioned in the issue come from the weakness of modern scientific leval,they can not solve any problem but bring a lot of disadvantage to us. The only way to solve this problem is to pour our efforts into scientific development!
