Ever since human being conked animals with remolded stones, technology, broadly defined as the appliance of tools, functioned as a double-sword in the society. Concerning the current problems and potential hazard it brings about, some including the speaker take it granted that technology threatens humankind; others hold the opinion that the benefits and convenience that technology provide is far more than the disadvantages. On balance, in my point of view, an objective and fair evaluation necessitates an unbiased attitude towards both negative and positive influences.

On the one hand, it is generally accepted technology is the most influential dynamic force that drives the society ahead. Consider the different usage of thumbs during different periods. For our ancestors that lived in a period that sheltered in the holes and ate raw wilds, thumbs, is generally used to grasp the most powerful tools at that time--sticks or rocks, which were mainly used to kill animals for food. In this period, technology provided us practicable and convenient approaches to attain food. Technology brings bout fundamental changes to humankind when the Industrial Revolution took place, thumbs, were applied in many mechanic appliances. For instance, in many European countries, with chattering and laughing, women used the thumbs to hitch the line from the needle in the sewing machines. For the women, technology offered efficiency and quality in the textile industry. In today's technology advanced society, thumbs finds its new appliance involved in the modern communication. On campus, in the bus, and in many other public places, you may glimpse a large number of teenagers move their thumbs on cellular phones to tap out and send text message. This approach of communications, guarantees people on the distinct hemisphere of the world gain the message of each other without delaying a minute. Presently, technology, saturating in the every aspect of human beings, plays a significant role in everyday life and work. Our society and each of its members, from the ravine to modern times, benefits from the technology at all time.

On the other hand, besides the convenience and progress, technology also creates significant number of problems, which, might undermine the quality of our life and even conceals the possibility that threatens the whole society. At least till present, the side effects of technology, both materially and mentally, always coexists with its manifest contribution in the rapid developing of economics and in the steadily improvement of life quality. The worry would sound not redundant if we pay attention to many of the modern pressing problems. For instance, nuclear treats makes people worry its powerful destruction and permanent radiation; Colon technology, especially when used for replicating humankind involves a worldwide controversial dispute for the moral and religious reasons. Furthermore, just consider the example of the usage of thumbs to send text message again, while technology ensures the convenience by knitting the world together, at the same time, it might create loneliness among people since face-to-face conversation, and accordingly communication is usual unnecessary or unreality.

Though technology itself could not solve the problems it has created, we should be optimistic that the creator of technology is entirely possible to address the problems. Moreover, technology itself needs to be responsible for the side effect it involves; it is the way that it servers that produces disadvantages listed above. To make the technology benefit the world forever, humankind, who creates the technology and determines the way it applies to the world, should always be awareness about the side effects of the technology and take practical ways to insure technology is not misused. And the stream line that affects humankind's determination is morality and consciousness.

In conclusion, it is not wise to consider technology as omnipotence, nor as a devil. Technology could drive us ahead and at the same time could bind us to make a step. Thus, in order to amplify the potential of technology and avoid the negative effects, individuals and the society as whole should stand on the right side of technology.

我在写这篇的提纲的时候也觉得这篇似乎只有从利弊两个方面先阐述再写人类怎么怎么样去利用它，这样逻辑上才过得去，但是这就又涉及到一个问题，就是这样的文章会比较难从思想上出彩了吧，所以我觉得在例子上丰富一下和新颖一下是很有必要的。
