"Government should place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development."

Should Government place few, if any, restrictions on scientific research and development just as the speaker claims?It is a dificult task to solve this complicated question by just yes and no.
From the point of science , it need no guide or restriction from a layman.To which direction the science would develop is mainly determined by science itself not by man.A true scientist should make progress in science,regardless of whether it would bring him any benefit.When Newton reseach on the three laws of motion and the gravity law ,he was inspired by the great interesting of nature and the respect of the turth ,not by solving a technolical problem that would bring him worth.Nowadays as seen many reseaches are driven by the interests.Business turn to science for support of technology to improve profit and science is becoming a tool of producticity.Although  it is sicience’s resposibility to improve the quality of living standard of human beings,it is independent of any social orgnize ,such as government.Almost every great invention which have changed our life ,such as bulb ,computer,mobile phone,is incarnation of  the very basic theory that once may seems useless.Newton may never imagine that human beings will able to fly to moon with the gravity theory he finds first.Therefore if government place restrictions on which field should be reseached would do great harm to science ,even caused a regression.
Since Adam was exclude from the Eden,humans often engaged in battle with himself.Some insane people enjoy get their own benefit at the cost of other’s.Therefore,science research should be restrict,or it would become the double-blade axe that one day may destroy our planet.There several countries that have the ability to destroy earth entirely with their nuclear weapon.If things get out of control ,it is ironic to say that we were destroyed by the power we created and admired.
There are countless evidence concerning whether science should be restricted by government.I tend to agree that government should not place any restriction on scientific research,but supervise it whether the power of science is used properly.

感觉靠科学赚钱的例子不太贴切,
建议lz以后可以自己先检查下时态,用词,语法错误,考试时因为这个扣分多可惜呀....
