TOPIC: ISSUE130 - "How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society."
WORDS: 703 TIME: 01:30:00
Where does the importance of the educational system to cultivate children as socialized ones stand and have we found an effective way to nurture our kids to bring about a better society? The speaker confirms students' socialization as the determinant of future society and holds a pessimistic view that little have we purchased to accomplish this predominant issue to raise social pillars of a better world. In my point of view, I concede the merit of emphasizing the importance of education for the new generation, especially making efforts of having our children more socialized. However, the future of the society is a function of varieties of factors other than such simple consideration, and education encloses more sacred purposes than the allegation list above.
Admittedly, behaviors of the young generation prelude the future of our society. For that matter, our educational system has purchased different aspects to nurture the children, trying to pave the way for their capability of being compatible to the society. It's not unusual for young parents to bring their newborns to the infant clubs so as to explore the innate social ability. And from the time our children start their kindergarten lives they learn to accompany kids with same hobbies and preference of similar toys. Let alone the school halls and social clubs organized in different levels of educational system. Even our neighborhoods become more positive in generating environments for kids' socialization, such as community children's carnivals. The whole society has the comments that more socialized as our children are today, the more shining our future will bei.
Nevertheless, social destiny is a more complicated issue than any of us has asserted. Human history could be influenced by different incidences or even be driven into to the sideways that no one could predict, no matter how well the children are prepared. In 1930's either Jewish families or schools made their efforts to cultivate kids as socialized as their counterparts in Europe, it was never the indication of their holocaust in the coming years. Or people seems to be so feeble confronting with the economical crisis, ethnic conflictions and religion incompatibilities, although we've learned to be knowledged, negotiable and taught to be clement by our Gods. Social development might be one of the most mysterious phenomena we can hold, even if with the help of the astrolabes in our hands.
Without accepting such situation, there comes our disturbance in trying to raise our child in a sufficient way in order to bring about a better society. What is so called the better world? I believe with thousands of answers there will be thousands of images. Parents, teachers and other educational staffs are doing their best trying to make our children to establish the ability to purchase that target. Nevertheless, has anyone ever thought of what kind of society do children want to live in as they grow up and will it be better for them? We always compel our wishes to the next generation: parents urging their children to enter the law school with the hope that one day his/her son or daughter would be one of the chancellors of the United States, teachers hoping the students win the Nobel Prize one day after graduation. Anything outlandish appears to children's mind is easily to be considered as harmful factor to the future world. It's the real unfortunate that we constrain the originality of children to bring positive influence on future society.
As the final analysis, unpredictability of the future remains to be existed in social history. Better socialization would be helpful to the children in future inter-personal relationship, cooperation and other social affairs, only by itself could accomplish nothing to determine the destiny of the society other than personal development. The main purpose of our education system is to teach the children how to think effectively, logically in different situations and determine what to do to adapt to the new transformation. No exact type of better society can be defined, or shouldn't we impose our wish and try to find the right way to raise our children, of whom would be able to find a position in future society if they really gain benefits from current education in an effective way. |
