ISSUE83- "Government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in theirnatural state, even though these areas are often extremely remote and thusaccessible to only a few people."
Shouldgovernment try to preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their naturalstate, even if these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible toonly a few people as the author concludes? I strongly agree with the author'sconclusion.
Inthe first place, as is know to all there are thousands of wild animals in remotewild areas, where are only accessible to only a few number of people.Consequently, we should spare no effect to preserve these areas; otherwise, thelife of wild animals might be seriously threatened, which might bring about aseries of bad effects to the well-being of the animal kingdom. For instance, one of the most precious animals, pandas, usually live on bamboos for food, which are some what abundant in Southwest China's Sichuan Province. However, inrecent years, driven by economical profits, more and more bamboos are cut downby the local residents, which might cause some bad effects to the life ofpanda.
Inthe second place, preservation of wild areas, in some degree, bears a strongrelation to our normal life. For this, we need look no further as to thedeforestation and desertification problem several years ago in south of InnerMongolia Autonomous Region, which is located in the west of Beijing. As a result of clear-cutting oftrees and scant plantation, most parts of this area have gone down to desert.Consequently, huge winds in spring, unable to be slowed down for the simplereason that there are no trees, usually blow a great deal of sand in this areato Beijing, which has produced many inconveniences to the city dwellers ofBeijing. What is worse, unless immediate efforts are made to protect thoseareas, Beijing,a few years later, might become to a desert as some people predicted.
Admittedly, preservation of these wild areas, in the short term, might cost a great deal ofmoney resources; however it might be a worthy investment in the long run. Hundredsof examples has illustrate that people now are facing disasters in the light ofimproper preservation in the past. Therefore, government should act out toprotect these wild areas.
Aswhat has been discussed above, we can safely arrive at the conclusion that thewild areas hold hand in hand with the life of animals as well as our humanbeings, and it is our responsibility to try to preserve these wild areas.
