According to this statement, the leader of any organization should alternate every 5 year. In my view, this statement is too extreme. I concede that the changing of the head means a lot to all companies, not to mention the company which is on its way to success. However, every enterprise should establish a flexible changing mechanism more than a stable one to suit for itself.
Firstly, some government and company, who have a outstanding leader to lead his or her organization to huge success. Such as Gandhi, the legend of Indian modern history who lead Indian striving for there independent and happiness. The Indian need a great man to guide them to reach the bank of victory at that age. The same situation happened to China and its leader Mao Zedong who lead Chinese people to freedom. It's hard to image that whether the India and China could win this battle in the revolution in case of change a new leader.
Secondly, while in some organization which develop smoothly, new leadership is essentially needed. Otherwise, when leaders have no fear of step down, nobody can guarantee that if he or she would abuse their power to do something evil, such as corruption, to harm the company. Oppositely, the new leaders often bring the new ideas and new method to guide the company to its greater success. It just like many top 500 enterprises in the world, their board usually vote for a new CEO to lead the enterprise go forward to a new high level.
Furthermore, the new leaders usually lack the necessary skill and experience to cope with existing problems; therefore, they need a period of time for adaptation. As far as the period of time for adoption, it should depends on the ability of the new leader.
Moreover, there should be other ways to make the company’s operation more effective except renew the leadership. We can take the Mengniu, which is the one of largest dairy products enterprise in China, for example. At the beginning of foundation, it is just a so little dairy products company which even do not has its own factory, but looking at Mengniu now, an unbelievable miracle happens, it makes profit about billions RMB every year. But it never changes the leadership ever. Why? It is because that the Mengniu grow up by it perfect management system and excellent financing operation. The fact tell us there is many ways to lead the organization to success.
In sum, renew the leadership is a nice idea to lead the company to success, indeed. Whereas, it is not a surest path for that. Explore a suitable renew mechanism which match to the organization finely should be constituted by the board.
