The speaker asserts that the human mind 's inherent superiority to machines simplely because machines are tools of human minds. I concede that machines are the tools of human minds just like many other tools in our life and work to facitate our life. However I strongly disagree with the assertion that human mind always superior to machines.
Admittedly, the behaviors of machines are totally based on the instruction of humans. The typical example immedietely coming into mind is the computer, which is the most intelletual machine work in the service of life and work of humans. It works according to the programs stored in storage . The programs which predesigned by human to perform certain actions are nothing more than a serisos of instructions which tell the computer what to do when meet certain condition just like the way our human make a decision in certain circumstance, the instruction even can tell the computer what to do when there is an exception occured the same way when we deal with a exceptional emergency in our life. In short , the computer just do what the human require it to do in the ways the human tell them how to do, as well as other machine which are less intellegent than computer.
However, maybe the initial purpos the human invent the machine is to facililate their work, make machine a substitute for human work, thus free the human from the heavy, boring , simple work. The machine such as lathe wildly used in factory may best illustrate this point. The process of lathe is exactly identical to the way early works' operation, with the development of this kind of machine the burdens of works have greatly released and the efficiencies have been dramaticly improved, but these kind of machines are still just repeat the works of human, in other words, all what they can do can also be done by human if they want. But still there other works which machine can do well are beyond the capibility of human, do this sounds ridiculas, the machine we invited can do the things we cannot do? Futunately it is true. To know this you need look no father than the weather precasts. Without the satelites and the high-speed machine we can hardly get the accurate result. Because the prediction can only be made based on a vast numer of history data and the analyse upon such data, the more data we have, the more accurate the result will be, and the more aspects of analyse we make, more factors we concider, more accurate the prediction result will be. This work can not be finished by human's computing in a required short time.
Machines show their superiority to human mind in these subjects and lots of such subjects fall into the scientific research category.
In sum, we cannot easily draw the conclusion that human mind always superior to machines simpley because we invented them. They can work better than our human can do in certian circumstance. We need to use them well in order to best facilitate our life and our works.
