题目:ISSUE17 - "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws." 字数:484 用时:0:34:44 日期:2007-08-07 Though there are unjust laws existing in our society now, we should not be against it by purpose. Because even the unjust laws are still laws itself, which is carried out by our government, enforced by political authority and should be obeyed by our citizens. To begin with, the law’s purpose is to regulate the people's behaviors in the whole society, and to stop them from stepping into the limited areas. To make it fair and just, the laws is always first established by custom or agreement from the people, gets its first evaluated by the government, which will last for months or years before carrying it out and lastly comes back to its people. To make the residents clear about the laws, the government will reason out why it is needed and guild people to use it properly. So from the whole careful and serious process, even some laws are not perfect for justice, it will not too far away from it. So disobeying such unjust laws by purpose will not be encouraged and phrased. In addition, the people who are trying to resist the unjust laws in the way of breaking it will get punished, which is absolutely not an effective way to improve the law system. As a citizen of one country, it is one’s responsibility to follow the laws. When there are something unjust existing in the laws, people can turn to the government department which is related to lawmaking. They can point out what is wrong in the laws and which should be improved by suggesting it in a gentle and proper way, instead of breaking it themselves. For instance, in China, we have people's representatives, voted by citizens themselves from all around the country, who will join in a meeting in the central government every year to give suggestions on the government's policy, and these suggestions include the opinions of people for the law system. So from this point of view, there are other better ways for the citizens to improve the law system rather than just resisting unequal laws. Last but not least, while breaking the unfair laws, some people involved will probably get hurt, or even the society will be effected in a bad way by the rude actions. So even the law-breaker has the intention of promoting a fair rule, he will still sacrifice too much to get the attention. No one should take such a risk while there are other proper ways can come to the point too. Simply put, everyone in our society has the responsibility to obey just laws and disobey unjust laws, but while resisting the unfair laws, one need to choose an effective way to dismiss the unequal points rather than just rush to break it. Only in a proper way, the law system can be improved much effective without sacrificing other's benefit. That is how the society develops peacefully. |
