题目:ISSUE43 - "To be an effective leader, a public official must maintain the highest ethical and moral standards."
字数:436          用时:0:44:36          日期:2007-08-10

Once in our orientation meeting, the CEO in our company said, (which I paraphrase here): "Being a leader requires three abilities, which are intelligence, communication and discipline, you need the intelligence to make right decision, communication to make your strategy appealing to your staff and your customers, and discipline to keep up with a standard of your moral views." After carefully thinking about the last issue of keeping up with a baseline, I agree with the writer here that maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards is important for the official to lead a team.
To begin with, a leader with highest ethical and moral standards will attract people to work for him. To understand it better, one can just turn to the concrete stories in history which shows such a leader always has intelligence people working for him. For instant, in the three-country period in china, Liu Bei is consider as the best leader with great moral standard comparing to another two leaders, so most of intelligence people are prone to contribute for him and his country, so after many wars among the three countries, Liu Bei finally became the last winner and organized the china mainland.
In addition, without the good moral standard, the leader can not even take an initial good team to success. As we know, being a leader is like setting up the example for the fellows. The fellows always see the leader doing things and will follow how he acts in different situations. If the boss can not keep promise to the customer then no fellow will take the promise seriously. So from this point of view, the leader should really keep up a high ethical and moral standard to set up the example for his staff.
Last but not least, a leader is not just the leader to his stuff, but also an image of the company to other related people such as the customers, the business partner. If there are some problems with his moral standards, the leader can hardly get the business from the prospective customers or more business from the old customers; and no one would like to be partner with the leader who suffered the moral problems. As a result, leader can not even make profit for the company, not to say to get supported from his staff.
Simply put, a public official, just like the leader in previous war period of china, and the business manager in business world, should maintain the high ethical and moral standards to be an effective leader, especially considering that the public official is facing all the people in society.

To begin with, a leader with highest ethical and moral standards will attract people to work for him. To understand it better, one can just turn to the concrete stories in history which shows such a leader always has intelligence people working for him.[这里语言有点啰嗦,语义重复了] For instant, in the three-country period in china, Liu Bei is consider as the best leader with great moral standard comparing to another two leaders, so most of intelligence people are prone to contribute for him and his country, so after many wars among the three countries, Liu Bei finally became the last winner and organized the china mainland.[三国的例子很好,不过最后是刘备统一了吗?]

In addition, without the good moral standard[good moral standards?], the leader can not even take an initial good team to success.

这篇文章语言错误少了很多,挺好。不过,我觉得你审题有些偏差,题目是说highest standards, 虽然你的论证说得很清楚,但没有 highest的意思,我看范文,它是说在business不需要highest,而在politics和另一个领域需要。
