When it comes to this issue, some people may think that history and literature are more important for the students,  others, however, may argue that science and mathematics have more importance. As far as I am concerned, which is more important depends on students' major.

On the one hand, if the students major in social science,  history and literature , of course, will play a more significant jole in their course. In other word, history and literature are the subjects that contain a vast amount of information and details about the society. For example, history, as we know, is a subject about the development of human, human culture, human society and so forth. And learning it can greatly improve the comprehension about the social science. Also, Literature always depicts many stories  about  a peroid of the society. As a  case in point, the famous novel The Romance of three kingdoms, which describes the history in three kingdom time in Chinese history , can aquaint the students with a multitude of stories about the society at that time, which will benefit the students profoundly.

On the other hand, on condition that the students' major are nature science or engineering,  they should spend more time on science and mathematics.  That is because nature science and engineering are based on science and mathematics, especially mathematics. For instance, Physics, as is known to us all, requires a vast number of essential knowledge in mathematics, such as calculus, differential equation, and so on. It is these mathematics tools that make the students much easier to master this couse. Therefore, lacking the foundation of mathematics will lead to the failure in these kind of courses. Another illustration is that electronic engineering is a major that demands not only the knowledge of  Physics, but also that of mathematics. Therefore science and mathematics are the top priorities of the students in these majors.

From what has been mentioned above, both option can bring a positive impact to the students, but they should determine which they should exert more power to study according to their majors.And the correct choice can contribute to their future success in their professions.
