    Whether scandals--in politics, academia or other areas--can be useful? Obviously, the author of this issue agrees with this point. However, in my point of view, I generally agree with that scandal can be useful in most cases, whereas harmful to some extent.
    To begin with, scandals are useful because it sometimes focus people's attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could and thus can be helped by more people. As we know, there are so many sharp problems in society that inevitably several of them are neglected and lack of concerning. In this sense, scandals, which draw common people's attention, can help more people know the problem and thus provide more help.
    In the field of politics, scandals of politicians would give rise to a more careful concern about the flaws of politics. In addition, thanks to the people's attention about politics, it exposes some demerits of politics, which should be remedied. It reminds me of the scandal of Watergate. In retrospect of history, Nixon, the great figure in the 20th century, was involved in the scandal of wiretapping in the Watergate building. After the report of journalists, the reputation of Nixon diminished at an unbelievable rate and eventually resigned, albeit he contributed dramatically to the society of America. What is more important is that it enables people to pay more attention on the election of presidents and even the whole politics and call the government to take actions to supervise it. Therefore, the supervising and attention of people is like the monitor to regulate the opposite development of politics. Simply put, due in some extent to scandals, it makes the public focus on the flaws of politics and therefore rectifies some flaws in politics.
    Not only in politics do scandals exist, but also there are scandals in academia---in universities and research institutions that should be pristine areas in the world. The plagiarism and the cheat exist in academia for a long time, and the result is that our development of science and technology will be slowed in a large extent. Taking Korean first scientists Hwang for example, when the completely Korean people are proud of his achievement and the government invest hundreds of thousands of money for him to do the research because he makes the big devotion to the whole world; he concedes that he cheats the entire world. It is not only reflect the loss of base moral ethnic of a scientist but also expose the resource of the problems, besides his own weakness such as peacocks, proud, etc, the more is that the high speed development of the science and the hastily expectations and blind investment of the government induce the scientists to pursue many other honors besides the achievements of academy. The scandals in academia reveal that the fickleness in society brought about by materialism also infects some academicians. To ensure the purity of academia, we should take measures against such activities.
    Furthermore, scandals could expose the problems of society and the weakness in human nature. The more and more scandals express that maybe our journalism system are more transparent and more powerful, but they are also means that we face the more and more problems in the politics, academy, business, sports and so on.
    However, the over-focusing on some scandal would cause some negative effect among the public. For instance, when more and more people get addicted to know some scandals of famous entertainer, undoubtedly they would focus their attention on such useless events rather than concentrate their focus on some severe problems or the significant event of the country. Under this circumstance, these people would no longer take pains to do what they should do and just idle away their time on entertainment scandals. So over-focusing on the scandal do harm to the society.
    To sum up, the scandals play a significant role in the society to facilitate populace to have a more insight into some events and phenomenon they do not realize in the past. Although some drawbacks exist in the respect of entertainment, the scandal would spur us to discern more problems in the field of politics and academia, or other area, and it contributes as a catalyst to propel the development of society forward. Therefore, we should build the sane, effective monitor system to do the quick response to these scandals, to distinguish their reality, to hold the treatment to the real illogical issue. With these effective measures, the scandals will be more useful.
