ISSUE103 - "The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives."

When it comes to history, many people concur that it is about the past, including the arts, the archetecture, the ethics, the philosophy, the science and  etc. of the past. As the development techlogogies rapidly change our lives, there goes around a saying that the study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives. I disagree with such a statement on the basis that history, no matter whether it is relevant to our daily lives, contribute to our lives today and it will be of use to improve our lives in future.

To begin with, History makes us to see the development of human beings as a whole continuous process. We can learn from the success of our ancestors and avoid repeating mistakes by studying the grave mistakes in human history. In other words, the experiences of our ancestors can tell us what we should do and what we should not do. For example, in the period full of wars, many people lost their lives when they struggled with each other for food or other materials. Moreover, millions of people lost their homes and suffered from starvation. To study wars in history, we will cherish the peoce we enjoy today. Although such study has  no relation with our daily lives, it cultivates us a sense of peace and call for the prople all over the world to avoid war, hence with the effort with human beings as  a whole, a better world will be created in future.

Secondly, the great people, including the brilliant thinkers, taught us  the cretiria to distinct what is right and what is wrong. Aristotle is a good example. His famous ethical theory was about happiness, which is most valuable according to his theory. Aristotle presented us a cretiria to evaluate whether some things are valuable. He said that we should  value something for its own sake, but not for a means to something else. Take fame for instense, many people want it, seek it, but when they aim for it, they value it not for the fame itself, but for the peacockery, the money which fame will bring about. While happiness is something we can only value it for itself. From Aristotle's ethical theory, we can know what is really valuable in our life.  It seems that ethics is irrelevant to our daily lives, but it can lead us to a road which leads to happiness. Therefore, it is worth to study it and we can benefit from it.

Third, even if we cannot benefit from history directly. The brilliant achievement of our ancestors will encourage us to head to a better future. The spirits they showed to overcome the difficulties will inspire us when we are faced with difficulties in our daily lives.
To summarize, history can bring us a sense of pride of our nation. There are so much great treasures that we will benefit from it for ever if we pay enough attention to it, ranging from the fields of arts, phylosophy, ethics to archetecture, chemistry, physical and so on.

(楼主开头的套话显得有点不纯熟,有现写的嫌疑哦,建议准备两个开头的模版,一个同意,一个不同意,反复用,直到熟地不能再熟~~~)

For example, in the period full of wars, many people lost their lives when they struggled with each other for food or other materials.(fight agaist with each other更好吧 个人觉得) Moreover, millions of people lost their homes and suffered from starvation. To study wars in history, we will cherish the peoce we enjoy today. Although such study has  no relation with our daily lives, it cultivates us a sense of peace and call (calls) for the prople all over the world to avoid war, hence with the effort with human beings as  a whole, a better world will be created in future.

Third, even if we cannot benefit from history directly. The brilliant achievement of our ancestors will encourage us to head to a better future. The spirits they showed to overcome the difficulties will inspire us when we are faced with difficulties in our daily lives. (是不是少点,楼主最好再写点,要不给人读的感觉意由未尽)
To summarize, history can bring us a sense of pride of our nation. (??这句不是你全文主要表达的意思吧??楼主~~~)There are so much great treasures that we will benefit from it for ever if we pay enough attention to it, ranging from the fields of arts, phylosophy, ethics to archetecture, chemistry, physical and so on.
整篇文章思路清晰缜密,很连贯,楼主的结尾是不要再斟酌一下呢~~后面再加几句切题就就好拉
