TOPIC:
ISSUE83 - "Government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even though these areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people."
WORDS: 422                  DATE: 2008-2-14
Admittedly, government should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, even though the areas are often extremely remote and thus accessible too only a few people. However, at the same time, we have to call for a balance on both the cost and the profit of such preservation.

Since some wilderness areas means so much to us human beings' daily life, through impacting on the change of global climate, the goverment are responsible for protecting the resource in these areas. The Amazon Rainforest, which represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests and comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world, is threaten by severe deforestation. As Amazonia has great response to climate change all over the world, such fact must not be ignored by goverment. The goverment should spare no efferts on preventing the rainforest being destroyed. If not, all that happened in the great movie'The Day after Tomorrow' would doubtlessly come into reality someday to our planet.

Now that preserving publicly owned wilderness areas can protect human beings' living on the earth, we will profit from this as well on not only economy but also education and so on. Natural reserve is an outstanding way to solve this problem, Wolong National Natural Reserve in Sichuan Province of China, for example. To protect giant pandas Chinese goverment establish the naturar reserve in 1963, which has devoted a lot to protect giant pandas away from being extinct. The natural reserve also attract considerable number of tourists each year. At the same time, this brings numerous income and also develops the economy in Sichuan. Besides, we can introduce kinds of knowledges to children in face with the real pandas, and it will make the teaching more interesting.

Though we can benefit so much from preserve wilderness areas in their natural state, however, as is mentioned, is it still necessary on the condition that the areas are extremely remote and thus accessible to only a few people?Or even some extreme activity might do harm to these areas and interrupt the original state of the animals living there. Great wealth on researching as Yellow Stone National Park is known to all, nevertheless, over-frequent tourism visit and scientific expedition interrupt the wild animals.

In sum, goverment should preserve publicly owned wilderness areas in their natural state, which can impact greatly on our daily lives and also contribute a lot to our economy and education etc..While in some aspects, the ways of preserving should vary from the exact reality.
