With the convenient sharing in the global infromation, we are living in an interactional world. Meanwhile, the persistent social problems faced by all nations are more or less similiar, such as environment problems, poverty, and fatness etc, though they appear in distinct forms in different nations. As education is a most effective way in solving social problems, it is meaningful for all nations worldwide participating in establishing a global university for researching these enduring social problems. Furthermore, it is even better for the development of a university for whose teachers and students are from different nations with a common goal to work together for the benefits of all nations.
In the last two hundred years, we human beings have made unprecedented progress propelled by three enormous industry innovations, yet at the same time caused scads of serious social problems which are threatening our living circumstance. Global warming, energy crisis, poverty, and terroristic threaten etc, none of which could be dealt with thoroughly by only one nation without help from other countries. Some of them even came up at the very beginning of the era of industry. Thus, it needs to call for a collaboration of all nations worldwide in addressing these enduring social problems. As education has its unique advantages, such as more effective and long time affection, it makes good sense for all nations participating in developing a global university designed to engage students in the process of solving the world's most enduring social problems.
On the other hand, the same social problem appears diversely slightly in different nations. For example, environment problems of developed countries differ from those of developing countries, those severe pollutions in developing countries nowadays might be experienced by the developed countries, and a global university could provide a professional and united circumstance for students from both kinds of countries communicating with each other, talking about such a common social problem, exchanging ideas, and then finally finding ways to solve it. Additionally a global university could also gather the scattered efforts from different countries and help alleviate those persistent social problems eventually. What is more, students as a prosperous generation who are expected to fulfill these persistent social problems would possiblely devote themselves in solving these problems for their countries or even the whole world, at which might such a global university aims.
To fight with most of the enduring social problems is a large and systematic job which asks for the support from all nations of the world. Establishing such a global university is just the first step, but also the most important step for long views in solving these problems and inhibiting the generation of new social problems worldwide affected as the enormous advantages of education. More and more worldwide cooperation is also needed in solving these persistent social problems. |
