TOPIC: ARGUMENT45 - The following appeared as an editorial in a wildlife journal.

"Arctic deer live on islands in Canada's arctic region. They search for food by moving over ice from island to island during the
course of a year. Their habitat is limited to areas warm enough to sustain the plants on which they feed, and cold enough, at least some of the year, for the ice to cover the sea separating the islands, allowing the deer to travel over it. Unfortunately, according
to reports from local hunters, the deer populations are declining. Since these reports coincide with recent global warming trends
that have caused the sea ice to melt, we can conclude that the decline in arctic deer populations is the result of deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea."

In this argument the author recommends that deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea
lead to the decreasing of the number of arctic deer . At first glance , the reason given by the author seems reasonable . However, this argument is unconvincing for several critical flaws.
To begin with , the author's recommendation is based on an unconfirmed reality that the number of arctic deer is really
decreasing . The reports from local hunters is so vague that it does not make me believe . That we do not see something can not prove inexistence of such things . It is really possible that such deers have migrated to other places . There is no statistic
evidence to testify the arguer’s conclusion.
Granted that the number of arctic deer is reducing now , a careful examination would reveal how groundless the conclusion is .
In this argument , the arguer just related the decreasing of the deer to recent global warming trends , which have caused the sea
ice to melt . However , the author failed to show some direct proof to evident the course and effects between them . Even
though global warming really contribute to the melt of sea ice , the author didn't give me a full and accurate evidence to proof
that the weather in this place has become hot enough to melt sea ice and ice between islands in this area has really melt . What is more , the arguer didn't eliminate other possible reasons leading to the reducing of the number of arctic deer . So we can
hypothesize that the declining of deer is related to the killing of local hunters . Also, absence of the plants on which arctic deer
feed , growing in their habitat , may lead to the reducing of the number of  them. If the author can not give me a trustful proof to support his or her idea , there are plenty of possibilities to explain such phenomenon .
As indicated above , the author can not persuade me to accept his or her conclusion . Unless he or she give me reasonable
evidences to answer the questions blow: If the number of arctic is really reducing ? If there are other reasons leading to the
result ? If the ice between islands near such place has melt ? I will believe the author' s opinion .

1. In this argument the author recommends that deer being unable to follow their age-old migration patterns across the frozen sea lead to the decreasing of the number of arctic deer.
作lead主语的词应为deer(being…为分词作后置定语),即deer lead to…, 句意上似乎不通。
另外,短文针对某一现象推断其成因,这里用recommend(推荐,建议)似乎也有些不妥
2. such deers have migrated to other places
deer单复数同形
3. the author failed to show some direct proof to evident the course and effects between them
病句?evident是动词吗?
4. 第三段过长,建议从What’s more开始另起一段

小结: 总体来说行文流畅,逻辑清晰,赞一个~
