TOPIC: ISSUE157 - "There is no such thing as purely objective observation. All observation is subjective; it is always guided by the observer's expectations or desires."
WORDS: 600 TIME: 00:48:00 DATE: 2008-3-30 0:24:39
Whether things observed by people are not objective as the speaker claims?[其实作者的题目说的是objective observation,并不是说的things] Generally speaking, people observe object with their subjective value all the time and in this point, it is tempting to agree with the speaker's opinion. However, careful scrutiny illustrates that in some special cases, some purely objective observations are exist.
Firstly when the assertion comes to the issue of event that occurred[不需要过去时] in our society everyday, different people view them with their unique perspective position which is influenced by their education background, the value system they possessed and even their status in society. Taking the unemployment issue in society for example. We have to admit that no government can utterly solve this problem as the market is keeping on changing and the only thing we can do is adapting our policy to its pace. When one loses his job, perhaps he may attribute this to the government which in his opinion may not fulfill its duty. While from the perspective of a boss, the point of this event may be a result of the capacity of the worker who may be not qualified for the job. Moreover, a student who is keeping an eye on the market could possibly pays more attention to the market issue. After all, common sense and the theory we have gained tell us that the principle of a free market is not under of humankind. Therefore, people can give sorts of opinion to explain one phenomenon because when the phenomenon comes to their eyes, they observe it with their inherent judging system which is mutually different from each other[other's].
It is attempting to get more merits when the opinion comes to the field of research or any work involve with creation. Facing a painting, some people pay more attention to the objection which others may be attracted by the color or the predominating color. Such result of observation have a relationship with people' experience and hence results in different imagines in their mind.
When it comes to the field of scientific, this trend seems to be more obvious. An advanced computer can attract different attention from scientists or engineers. Some people may be shocked by the high speed of calculating while others may want to figure out how it works in such a harmony condition considering the heating problem brought by the combination of numerous elements. In short, the perspective of different people is affected by their knowledge they possessed.
However, even we concede that in most of the cases that what we look, how we think and even how we act are decided by our subjection, we can not rule out the other facts. The example is especially, in my opinion, obvious when it comes to the scientific research[你前面也用过这个领域的例子证明的确是相反的观点,这里在加工一下]Panda is known as a precious creature which now only lives in a few places of China[这句话很明显不对,大熊猫哪里是只有中国有?有些国家也有,但是是中国送过去的。这里你可以说大部分大熊猫]in order to better protect this creature, every year the Chinese government will organize groups of expert to do research around the area in which the panda survive. During the process, those experts follow some well established methods to do their research hence upon which we can get our further policy to protect these wild animals. In such cases, the subjective factors have been greatly diminished by the standard procedure. Obviously the number of these pandas can not be affected by people' subjective observations.[这里的例子是有点问题的。
In sum, whether a thing is objective or subjective to man' view is largely depends on the way we observe. On the other word, the more standard a procedure we carried, the less possible we will involve it with our own emotion.
