Watching these proceedings can help people understand the issues that affect their lives. The more kinds of government proceedings-trials, debates, meetings, etc-that are televised, the more society will benefit."

The speaker asserts that it is beneficial to watch the working scenes of government so that people can know much about issues that affect their lives. I basically agree with this statement. However, too much supervision on government working may lead to a inefficient work.

To accept the supervision from public has many benefits to both public and government. From the perspective of public, they hope to learn more information related to their interests. When the mass media pay attention to political affairs, the public have a powerful tool to protect their behalves. For instance, in China, the work of government has many disadvantages before political system reforms. Usually a trivial problem can not be solved until providing benefits to the government official, which is called "finding the relationship of many relation department" in Chinese. Even a rigid legal system is there which regulate the behaviors of official; it can not work efficient. The most essential reason is lacking an over-bearing supervision from public. Provided such government proceedings such as trails, debates, meetings are televised, the behalves of common people can be protected.
From the perspective of government, a supervision in full bearings brings a more justicial and reasonable system. In the past years, according to a survey of Hong Kong University, many political scandals happened and one of the crucial reasons is that the supervision from public was not enough. In modern times, a legal and democrat country should pay more attention to the supervision from many groups, including people in party, people outside party, general public and people of other countries.   

Albeit supervision from public is beneficial to both government and people, if we pay too much attention to government work proceeding, the efficiency is certain to be suffered. The most essential function of government is to tackle with various routines rather than affairs which may cause disputes. That's to say, many work of government are processed which make it can not be unjust, even at the worst condition it is merely inefficient rather than unreasonable. Consider the work of a common clerk of government, the whole work of him is to welcome a leader or typewrite a document and so on. It is entirely unnecessary to watch these trivial things which dominant the most part of government. What' more, most work of government are boring and monopoly, a typical example in China is enrolling various identities. To watch these proceedings is both boring and ridiculous. Can you image a person watching TV consistently for several hours only to see the scene of a long queues waiting for their service impatiently? Provided these proceedings are televised, it is both ridiculous and inefficient.

In sum, we do need pay attention to government's work which directly relation to our behalves. However, a suitable and reasonable approach is needed.
