ISSUE50- "In order to improve the quality of instruction at the college and university level, all faculty should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach."
1:分情况
21)有时没这样的工作,有时research更能提高instructions
2)有时有害,减少了准备上课的时间。

Comment sense indicates that not all faculty in the college and university should be required to spend time working outside the academic world in professions relevant to the courses they teach to improve their level of instruction to the students. As we know, it would be impossible or unnecessary for some professors to take part in the job market. What’s more, sometimes it may be even harmful to their students and even themselves if college faculty participates in work outside the academic world. However, in other cases such participations whenever the professors have had or are still having are beneficial to the standard of their instruction.

One problem that will be brought out by requiring doing so is where the job is. Some teachers in basic education which is needed to cultivate the well-rounded students have no way to find a job as there just are not work relevant to their specialty at all. For example, no one will accept a teacher whose job is teaching fundamental math or theoretical physics. Such faculty could only stand in the class and pass on their knowledge to the students. The other question is that in some cases, those professors can better their instructions more effectively through focusing on their research rather than working in the job market. For example, one of my professors majors in macromolecule chemistry. Although he can doing some relevant research for industry companies and is often requested to help as his produce of research always satisfies those enterprisers, which will bring him much moneyHe tells us these work can’t improve his credibility as an expert  in the field of macromolecule chemistry. What really raises his status is his team’s research, through which all the members in his team can develop their skills and capabilities.

In some extreme circumstances, however, working outside academic may reduce the necessary time for the professors to prepare his class, thus influencing their level of teaching and damaging their own reputation. For example, a professor in Taiwan whose specialty is politics takes part in the TV program in a frequency of twice a day and has only litter time to prepare his work as a professor. How could he improve his instructions if he was not a superman? Maybe he could just change his job and focus all his time on his talk-show in the TV program. So, too much participation will definitely ruin the academic courses as the professors have limited energies.

Abide from these circumstances, working outside will improve the instructions and develop the abilities of students, whether such work is done or still doing. The most important benefit is through such work the professors will gain experiences to develop their own capabilities and have actual cases to show in their classes to make their instructions more comprehensible. Taking a debate as an example, in spring a professor majoring in marketing of real estate in Fudan University-one of the best universities in China-and an enterpriser who manages one of the top real estate companies argued about whether the price of real estate in China in 2008 would decrease. During the debate the professor always said something theoretical such as how the price was formed , how litter the government regulation’ influence to the price was and how the demand was not decreased or even increasing to support his conclusion that the price won’t fall. On the contrary, the enterpriser told the audiences that his company and others whose boss were his close friends had been forcing to lower the price actually. As a result, most of the audiences accepted the enterpriser’s idea. So, we can imagine in the class the professor could only tell the students those theories and could not inform the real situation in the current real estate market to the students. If the professor had taken part in some work in the market before, his conclusion would have been the verse and made his reasoning better.

In sum, not all faculty need to work outside academic to improve the instruction. They can still better the teaching by focusing on their research. However, in some cases taking part in the outside work is necessary and beneficial.

逻辑很清晰,而且用自己的亲身经历和作为学生的角度来举例论证非常恰到好处,美中不足是语言还需要提高,呵呵,其实这也是我的问题。

事例确实太长了,下次要注意了。
还有,better能做动词的。

例子似乎太长了,可简短一些
